Just completed the break-in period and so far the unit is operating perfectly kzbin.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y . I was amazed by just how quiet this little guy is. I kept having to walk down the driveway to the generator to make sure it was still running. In fact, the most annoying noise coming from the set-up is a high-pitched chirping coming from the pressure regulator on the propane line. I suppose it's possible my other propane-powered generator's pressure regulator is making the same noise, but the generator itself is so loud I've never noticed it. Build quality so far is excellent. My only nit is the service panel is a little tricky to remove. I feel like I might break off one of the plastic tabs when bending it back. I probably just need to work out the technique, so will not hold it against Champion.Next week I intend to fully load the unit to charge a large battery pack and will update this review if there's any problem (3000W continuous load vs a rated 3100W capacity while using propane). Absent any trouble there, I'm 100% pleased with this purchase.

What a lot of snarky commentators. I was impressed and the guy shows things well. There will always be a better (more expensive) product on the market or a more efficient way to do something but this looked pretty good to me and clearly is working well for him for what he wanted. Sometimes if people don't have something nice to say they should just button it. I've noticed when it comes to wind turbines there is a lot of "technical snobbery". Share your knowledge if you know better but don't run someone else's effort down in the process !

The power tools you used towards the end of the video, were powered from the INVERTER + BATTERIES, nothing to do with the turbine. These "Chinese lantern" (SAVONIUS) turbines are inefficient and useless. Can you please share with us typically how much power do you generate/day, in KW. If you watch the youtube video, you will see that power is proportional to velocity cubed, so if you half the wind speed you will get only 1/8 power. The most efficient wind turbines are the the horizontal propellor type. The Chinese Lantern are not useless, they are a fraud.

Not sure why you did a test at the end that did not test anything. It just showed you have a 6000wat inverter and some battery that can power things. @@angel2stardust Yep, also the wiring shows 2 x 12 V batteries in series....12 + 12 = 24 volts.... Also the test showed the amount of power available to the user which, as was intended, was very useful. I was surprised the welder ran as well. Terrific effort. Thank you for taking the initiative to put up a very practical example.

Greetings from Estonia! I have a similar inverter. The only difference is the input voltage which is 24V DC. I'm using it with a 500 Ah 24v battery bank. Charging it with 16 solar panels with a total power of 1600w ideally. I also use a cheap Chinese wind generator with a horizontal axis that says 500w but that is definitely not realistic. There is little benefit in recharging the batteries. Most of the energy is still provided by solar panels during the summer. At the moment it is winter in Estonia (Northern Europe). The days are short and the sun is very low. I look forward to spring and summer to use solar power again. But the inverter is very good for its price. I'm happy with that.

The simple ones only contain a rectifier. In addition, the generator is short-circuited if the battery voltage becomes too high. All in all no rocket technology and much too expensive for the called price.Oh - you mean the inverter, not the charger ... ops ;)

Inverter contains a bridge rectifier to convert AC from turbine to DC and charge battery. It also has charging controller which dissipates the excess power than needed to charge battery. Also it has the regular oscillator and power amplifier (switching circuitry) by which it converts the DC supply from the battery to AC to power the home appliances as usual.

The inverter (silver box) is rated for up to 3000w. (6000w peak but 3000w continues use) The batteries looks like 40 Ah batteries (googled them) so that would mean with 2 of them he has 1000Wh in total. So like 25 minutes or so, with his welder. The windmill is able to provide up to 1000w (on a really windy day). If the windmill produces at full capacity then it should be too much for the batteries to handle.

Classic oriental con...never show you the actual input from the wind generator to the batts. That is the only important aspect of knowing whether to buy/install/use a wind generator. You can take several car batteries right from Walmart of AutoZone install them to an inverter and power saws, drills and welders all day long....knowing whether the wind generator can keep up is the vital part in deciding on wind as a source....AND ONE THEY NEVER SHOW YOU ON THIS VIDEO.

@@KON3KOZEKO Yes, I can see how the sunshine would lessen the life expectancy of the plastic parts on any wind turbine. Also, like you said, building anything around the turbine will cause turbulence and greatly diminish the electricity generation. For that reason, I probably would go with metal turbines only. Though they may cost more initially, I would think they are relatively more affordable after considering how much longer they last compared to plastic wind turbines and how you don't have to build a roof or house for metal turbines to protect them.

Whats an extra 75 bucks to extend the life of your batteries and improve performance? these vtols have appeared everywhere on amazon and dont hold a candle to a real vtol, great for portable setup or in emergencies tho.

What size was the mcb from the battery to the inverter? Your amps will be multiplied by roughly 10 because 24v vs 240v. Eg 10A load on the mains power will pull 100A on the 24v side.

The wiring to the inverter is not sufficient or the batteries are struggling. The drop in battery capacity on powering up those devices shows a large voltage drop. With a startup power of 2.4kw, that'll draw about 110A from the batteries which should be fine. Try wiring in a couple of 24v pairs to allow more current and see if it behaves.

this video is overly exaggerated , i try it myself using this lantern wind turbine and 6000w inverted with a wind velocity of 14 m/sec( wind turbine only generate 10 volt dc at max) for 3 hours , still cannot charge the battery . very disappointed and hope that whoever that produce this video be more mindful and not to mislead viewer and cause distrust in future.

Some quick calculations: Inverter (silver box) is rated for up to 3000w. (6000w peak but 3000w continues use) The batteries looks like 40 Ah batteries (googled them) so that would mean with 2 of them he has 1000Wh in total. So like 25 minutes or so, with his welder. (Not taking efficiency into account) The windmill is able to provide up to 1000w (on a really windy day). As for the wires and the rectifier I cant calculate the loss but with 24v and up to 1kw (~41A pulsating DC), the loss would be surprisingly high. If the windmill produces at full capacity then it should be too much for the batteries to handle

This windmill a 1000 watt? You need 6 foot diameter and 45 mph winds for 1000 watt. It's a spinning toy not even one watt it produces.

i wouldn't run this inverter more than 1500w continious. if you want it to last more than two months

Wind power never works good. I guarantee you this one only makes around 50w maximum. you can get a big turbine like 12ft diameter and make around 2kw, but then it already triple the cost of a 2kw solar array. also the charge controllers for turbines are expensive and inefficient as the voltage tolerance is huge. Im just trying to help anyone, if you look on craigslist you will find used panels still at 90% output for $0.5 a watt. solar panels work great even on cloudy days.

I once used one of these Changi inverter stuff. Horrible equipment. Could deliver less than half of it's rating, fans were not working well and also gave overvoltage.
