Just a little note here, around 1:26:00 Reid misses a very cool play. As he gets wastelanded the first time he could have floated blue Mana and bounced the opponent's Sol Ring without them copying the spell. This would have locked the opponent's on Mana for a couple turns, I was really hoping he would see it at the last second.

Hey Reid, just a bit of friendly advice from a vintage player :). when your opponent decided to bounce your defense grid off the chain of vapors, I would have used the opportunity to just re-jam the defense grid. At worst, it's get's countered by force of will since your opponent is tapped out and if they just have a second force of will and another blue card, you're just dead in the water anyway and it doesn't matter. If the defense grid sticks though I think there's still lines where you can get there without that extra 2 mana. Red Elemental blast just feels like a trap here.
@FrankFerret6 жыл бұрын
BTW I did actually write this before watching the part where your opponent had the force, so I think I stand by that. Risking losing your dark petition when it's actually a demonic tutor right now just seems really bad.
@daveruckstuhl32986 жыл бұрын
problem is chain was bouncing the damping sphere, so jamming grid just lets op play out sphere again, which basicly is wasting an answer. i would have rather tried to eot chain, possibly when their sphere blocks them out, and have the one more mana up. but i dont play vintage myself, so idk if my line is utter garbage.
@jonasdash6 жыл бұрын
You can't EOT Chain when you have Defense Grid down (it costs 3 more) The only way I think this game can be won is to wait to draw a 3rd land. Main phase cast Chain off Sea, if opponent copies Chain onto your Defense Grid, then you can copy Chain back onto your own LED (increasing storm count), then you can cast Mox, LED, Dark Ritual off Badlands + one other land and cast Dark Petition. If he has Force, you have Lotus Petal for R to cast Red Elemental Blast. If not, you get a Demonic Tutor off the Petition (1 black floating) crack Petal for B and cast DT for Yawgmoth's Will (crack LED in response) and use Will to play Petal and LED. Petal to play Ritual. Crack LED, play Dark Petition again for Tendrils and win. at least, that's what I think... not sure if I missed something
@FrankFerret6 жыл бұрын
@@daveruckstuhl3298 so you have access to 9 mana in this hand at that point before you play the chain of vapors: 2 land, petal, diamond, mox and dark ritual. Cast chain, grid gets bounced, recast grid and (i would assume) it gets countered by fow. That's 6 mana left, cast dark ritual as part of the 6 mana left then dark petition with spell mastery to get yawgmoths will. 4 mana left. Then cast yawg and go off. Again this is assuming they don't have a second force of will.
@RyuPlaneswalker6 жыл бұрын
since you are a Vintage player, you could answer this question, when the chain of Vapor copy was on the stack, couldn't he have Red Elemental Blasted that, saved his defense grid and allowed himself to Dark Petition for Yawgmoth's Will, cast everything from the graveyard and then Tendrils?

powuhofPIE He couldn't have played Dark Petition if he cracked petal. He probably shouldn't have bounced the Jace to reduce odds of fow but other than that I think he had to go for the Petition either way. and once OP forces he can't REB because crackind LED would discard it.
