IIT Madras develops HomoSEP, a robot for septic tank cleaning
It will be first deployed across Tamil Nadu
Later, it will be adopted in Gujarat and Maharashtra
The aim is to end manual scavenging
The septic tank is a poisonous environment that causes deaths

HomoSERP was first developed by Divanshu Kumar in 2019 as a final year project under the guidance of Prof. Rajagopal
The researchers collaborated with Solinas Integrity Pvt Ltd to develop HomoSEP further
Solinas Integrity Pvt Ltd is an IIT Madras-incubated startup
