For me as a former Aircraft Engineer, it is almost impossible that a landing gear does not jump out of its compartment. Landing gears are secured 3 to 4 times to come out, namely: hydraulic , electric , pneumatic (pressure cylinders) and with a hand-operated pump that is also hydraulic. Only when everything is done, a light (indicator) goes on that everything is OK. Now that I read this, it is a mystery to me how this could have happened.
@gc8255 күн бұрын
Sir could it be possible if the landing gear has failed, is it safer when he let the plane loose its gas before safe landing?
@Highland_Moo5 күн бұрын
Possible that the pilots were unable to carry out the landing checklist and possibly neglected to lower the gear. Maybe they were so concerned with everything happening and when the engine caught fire they just forgot. Seems unlikely, but I can’t see why gear wouldn’t be lowered. Even if the bird strike caused the starboard engine to malfunction, the plane’s landing gear was retracted and that makes no sense. It can be manually lowered by the pilots so why wasn’t it? No hydraulics means no flaps. And if they were on final when the hydraulics failed, they would have had no time to manual lower the gear - that takes several minutes. Even a gravity drop takes a minute or so, if it works. Apparently the runway was unidirectional only and they were landing against the use direction. Simply put, planes were not supposed t land in the direction this plane did, so the wall was not improper. This is not a major airport, so it is possible they still had a restricted runway.

Well, the bird strike seems to have induced a panic or a loss of control that meant they just came down ... out of control, breaking all the rules, at the airport. They seem to have the nose at a very good pitch up for the no landing gear landing, so it seems they had control enough for turning, flying straight and level, and pitching the nose up too. Why didn't they realise they were too far going to touch down too from the start of the runway, and going to fast even if they got the start of the runway, and that they didn't even have landing gear down , which requires the slowest ground speed, so why didn't they continue on straight forward, even if they were a glider, they could reach the sea, or a nice bit of field or empty road, and thus have a place to put down that was infinitely long, flat , uninhabited, unobstructed, water would be a good spot without landing gear, and so they could delay going down until their ground speed was ..safer....

A normal aircraft has three separate hydraulic systems for redundancy, two from the engines and one from the back-up electric pump. And also, if the landing gear does not deploy by the move of a lever, it can be lowered manually. So, a bird strike alone is nearly impossible for downing an aircraft. It must been an accumulation of faults at the same time.

After the pilots knew the landing gears are not working - why they didn't thought of landing the plane by gliding on the sea coastal water? Water offers lot of resistance to gradually bring the plane to a halt, floats it, and water splashed wet on it during gliding deters possible fire to happen. Fatal casualty and plane damage would be minimal, right?

OMG! Deepest condolences to the families & friends of the departed ... A longer runway without a wall at the end would have save the stricken plane & lives from slamming into a hard barrier ... 🙏🕯🌼🌿

DEI engineers decided it was a good idea to put a concrete wall at the end of the runway.

Honestly I am scared to fly now and will cancel all my overseas holiday and will travel to Malaysia and Batam for vacation cos safe travelling by land there

You would need to fly every day for more than 10,000 years to be in a fatal plane crash. On the other hand, the chances of dying in a car collision are about 1 in 101

Panic by the pilot caused this because he didn’t even put the landing gear down.

if it had of been an Airbus A320 instead of flying coffin B737, it would have made the landing

There's reports that the engine was on fire days before the Crash but it was ignored by the airline.

in my assumption that plane is going to GO AROUND and the engine is already failed. thats why we see there is no flaps and landing gear. but the concrete wall at the end of runway ?? this is an airport or a fortres ???

@mnm2156 yeah The Airbus is another plane manufacturer that hasnt had any major fatal crashes.

You can still drop the landing gear by hand inside the cockpit , the strangest thing is the nose landing gear flaps wasn't even down ,so they never even tried to deploy the landing gear

I can understand why they would need to perform an emergency landing if there was an issue with the engines if something happened due to the birds, but why in the world would the landing gear be up? Mistake from the pilots, hydraulic issue? Hopefully that will be answered soon because a flock of birds does not disengage the landing gear.

But why a wall on the Runway? If the engine failed can also the landing gear be affected?

I read an interview with the father of one of the victims. He said that the pilot can belly land it in water for softer blows and I agree. It's like what the pilot in Hudson River plane crash did to save his passengers and crew. RIP to all the victims
