Court of Appeal gave judgment on the jurisdiction of the case. Which did not say the former lawmakers did not defect to APC. Rivers state government can go and file another case against the so called lawmakers again at any federal high court.

Martins Amaewhule is the current speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly as it stands, because of a judgment of the Abuja Federal High Court (FHC/ABJ/CS/1613/2023) headed by the honorable Justice Omotosho. The judgment recognizes Amaewhule as the speaker, and it has not been set aside by a higher court. The Judge directed the Governor to represent the state budget to the Amaewhule led house of Assembly. This is the status quo until a higher court set aside this ruling.
