you can tell Ka Kui was different. he put his passion for music above money and every thing else. if all he cared about was money and fame, he didnt have to go to Japan as they were already at the peak of their career in HK. it was indeed a huge risk for them if they failed to succeed in Japan and by the time they returned to HK they might already be forgotten or at least wont be half as popular. i can say Ka Kui would still choose music over money if hes still alive today
Yeah, HK had a kind of music industry vacuum period around 90 to 92 in which we had no heavyweight singers like Alan, Leslie and Anita who were retired or much less active already but supported by younger generation like Hacken Lee, Shirley and Beyond etc... True, it was a very tough decision to leave or stay at that moment and of course no one would expect we had another wonderful music trend coming HK started from 92/93 and emerging another great stars after until round 2003.
Why didn't appreciate appreciate and value Beyond when Wong Kar Kui still alive. What is there to gain for talking him now; to find him entertaining for satisfying egoism!!

Time is the best prove. Ka Kui is a true legend. We are still talking about him because we miss him. I became his fan many years after he passed away and I really appreciate that Shao Bao shares Beyond and Kakui's stories with us.
