The earliest instrument used for religious purposes was actually the lyre or kinnor or kithara( all small u-shaped harps). With caution, the acoustic guitar can evoke the mystical sound and awe of the early Levites in the Temple. Let's bring back reverence to our liturgies!

@@WatchersfortheSonofMan Thank You for your encouragement. I am praying for that, daily. There is still much traditional worship here, in lovely, old churches. Still choirs learning "O Come Let Us Adore Him"! Carols from Kings College Choir, Cambridge, play every Christmas Eve, on the radio, and are my official start to the season! This year, in our village, residents have created wonderful vignettes of Nativity scenes, in their gardens. It did my heart so much good, when I happened upon, my first set of shepherds! I forgot to mention previously, my thanks for the mango! It was "virtually" delicious!

Beautiful use of the guitar. I used to be very close minded when it came to using the guitar in liturgy or in worship in general, but this soft style of guitar (which I first saw used by John Michael Talbot) is very beautiful and does legitimately remind me of David and his harp.

I remember seeing comments from people complaining about music being used for worship music in church, and its like, did they ever read psalms? Some of them say they were played on a stringed instrument. The beginning of your video where you struck the chords sounded nice, but the gentle strumming and the voice being the central point is also very nice. I just found out about "metrical Psalms" yesterday and I think it would be great if my church sang psalms too (how come I never knew about this before?! Psalms were meant to be sung).

If you found time for a labour's of love to put that in book format I would be so thrilled. I've known only the protestant tradition and get very disappointed with some of the lyrical themes. But sure have come to absolutely love the pure worship of just sticking to the psalms. It truly keeps it central to God and God only.

@@WatchersfortheSonofMan yes, the Church i go to does polyphony spairingly. All the Introits, Kyrie, Angus Dei, Glorias, Credos, Tracts, Alleluias, ect. are said in monophonic chant with Organ accompament in some of the larger chants. This accompament is in the form of cords rather than just drones. The Offertory is ussually where polyphony is used along with the processional hymns

@@WatchersfortheSonofMan I've led a small group of seniors that I taught how to say "Morning Prayer". We gather every morning before daily mass. I'd tried to introduce chanting (using my own tones) but got frustrated because my tones always changed. I just couldn't be consistent which confused the group. You've put my conscience at ease by saying it's okay to make up your own tone but it has to be consistent. What you've introduced me to are the tones used in the "Christian Prayer" book which we've always used bit I never knew about the instructions in the back of the book with the tones. Now I have something to go by and once I get the group familiar with them we should be off and running. Wish I hadn't given away my guitar. Thanks again and I'll keep referencing your videos to broaden my tone vocabulary.

Wow! This is EXACTLY what I've been searching for in regards to music to worship Jesus Christ! I am not trying to be rude, but to me (in my opinion) I just do not like contemporary Church music. I feel that it just doesn't have any power, or strength. But with you chanting the Psalm and just using 2 chords, it felt like THIS is how we should worship Jesus Christ. I also play guitar, can you please tell me why you chose the chords Dminor and C? Could I have played the song with Eminor and G Major, for instance? Thank you for this great video.
