Thank you for the recommendations, I’ve actually had the Thursday Murder Club book on my TBR for over a year, I keep getting distracted by other books but want to get to it this month. Now I’m reading comments and jotting down those books too.

One of favorites us the Cherringham series by Matthew Costello. It's set in a tiny British town with a retired NY detective and his best friend who's British.

i highly recommend the Agatha Raisin series by M.C Beaton , retired lady leaves her high stakes pr firm for the cozy country life of a small british village but of course threw a turn of events she does some sleuthing and befriends the local officer, lovely series elderry spunky main character and lots of wit, humor and a cozy setting. Also recommend Louise Penny, she is more detective fiction than your typical cozy but the Canadian small village of three pines transforms the series into cozy territory .

The Vera Wong book along with The Secret, Book & Scone society are now on my TBR! 📚 Excited to look more into those. I grew up reading The Augusta Goodnight cozies as well as The Torie O’Shea mysteries. Hopefully I’ll find some time to make a video about those eventually 😂

I feel like I should send you my Madelines, but I think I'll wait until book six is out since it's the last in the first series in her life. Also... Elizabeth Peters Amelia Peabody might be a good fit for you. If you like Heathcliffe Lennox, then you might like Miss Busby by the same author. She has a bit of a Miss Marple vibe.
@ChantelReadsAllDay26 күн бұрын
Your Madeline is definitely on my list! I've tried an Elizabeth Peters years ago and didn't like it but maybe I'll have to give it another try!

An older series is the Cat Who mysteries by Lilian Jackson Braun. They have a highly intelligent cat named Koko who helps his owner solve murders. They are especially fun if read in order because she builds on the characters.

I love Mma Ramotswe The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series which is set in Botswana. There is coziness, humor but also some depth. Read them in order, as the characters and overarching storyline develop as you go.

I don't know if the Adventures on Trains series by MG Leonard and Sam Sedgman counts as cozy, but I think it probably comes close. It is a middle grade series that I am loving. Also on Kindle Unlimited there is a series by Kathi Daley set in Holiday Bay. There is The Bookstore at Holiday Bay, The Inn at Holiday Bay and The Bistro at Holiday Bay. They are cozy mysteries around 200 pages and they all interconnect with each other as many characters crossover in the books.

I am a fan of the Murder She Wrote series, primarily the ones written by Donald Bain/Jessica Fletcher. I am not as fond of the newer ones since Donald passed away, but they are fun stories. Growing up watching the tv series, caused me to begin reading the books too. I am currently reading A Berry Suspicious Death by Peg Cochran. This is my first by this author. So far, it's pretty good. IT has fall vibes being set in September on a cranberry bog. Thanks for sharing your recs.

ohh my goodness I am dying about the going to the CIA building.. so the summer after my freshman year of college I coached a softball team in Mclean VA which is near where I grew up but not really if that makes sense. It is in northern VA but a very ritzy section. This was obviously pre-smart phones and all that. I had printed out directions to this high school where the travel team was practicing in the summer. I thought I was making the correct turn on the road that led to the high school but I was actually one road too early. It was the entrance to the original CIA building that had armed guards and a gate where they put a mirror under your car and inspect it. Needles to say 19 year old me was terrified I was going to get into trouble. I had to show them my directions and that I turned in by accident. In retrospect there was a sign saying something about entering but I was on a busy road and kinda ignored it. 😬 So embarrassing!

My favorite cosy mystery series are Bunburry, Cherringham, Lady Hardcastle and Mydworth. I've read them all and now waiting for the next to come out in each of them. Also adored the Mrs Pollifax series and Thursday Murder Club. Did you know Richard Osman has a new series starting that is being released this month? And The Marlow Murder Club is a 2 part tv series which was fun. Not sure if the other books have been made into tv yet. I love cosy mysteries.

Eeeep - Murder in the Mystery Suite is full of bookish wonder.The whole series is fabulous! I have a Canadian recommendation. The Laine Winslow Mystery series. Historical setting -- post World War II in a very small little community in BC. Laine is mid twenties, but she worked for the British as a courier/spy during the war. Now she wants to leave that world behind so she settles in King's Cove in to enjoy a quiet life. Only she discovers a dead body and becomes a suspect in the murder investigation. Proving her innocence is especially tricky because she can't reveal anything about her war work. Really well done and well written. The audio books are fantastic. I found the post war Canada tidbits so interesting. Not a time period I've read a lot about.

I so want to read Mrs. Pollifax as well because of how much you talk about her. I'm currently on the 3rd Thursday Murder Club book and am really enjoying the series. While I thoroughly enjoyed Vera Wong herself, the rest of the characters didn't hit with me, so I'm undecided if I'll pick up the next one.

The Secret Book and Scone Society and A Dark and Stormy Murder were both 5 star reads for me! I will say, please trust the process with the Secret Book and Scone Society. There is a potentially uncomfortable scene in chapter 6, but there isn’t anything after that! I love the ladies in this story and really love how Ellery Adams wove their stories. For me, I loved the endearing characters so much more than the mystery in this one. 🥹

The Secret Book and Scone Society was good. Just know chapter 6 has a scene that I just completely skipped over after hearing about it. It was like 3 pages but skipping didn't really take away from the story.
