CHANTRY FLAT | Hermit Falls | Hiking Los Angeles

Hiking Greater Los Angeles...starting from Chantry Flat you can hike to Hermit Falls, Sturtevant Falls, Hoegee's Campground, Mt. Wilson and other destinations in the Angeles National Forest. Day Hike
Adam's Pack Station is located down a dirt driveway at the end of the upper parking lot. It is marked with a sign. Visit the Pack Station for parking and hiking information and more. There is a picnic area next to the pack station above the upper parking lot.
The visitor center (staffed by a volunteer - not full time) is located near the upper parking lot.
Chantry Flat is located above the cities of Arcadia and Sierra Madre. You take Santa Anita Avenue north from the 210 freeway. Once you reach the gate you will drive about 3 miles up the road to the parking lots. Be careful on your drive because you are sharing the road with cyclists.
Parking is limited and especially crowded on the weekends. If you park on the street, make sure your vehicle is completely off the road.
Be aware: there are bears and rattlesnakes in the area.
STAY ON THE TRAILS...The trail to Hermit Falls is in need of repair and can be dangerous!

Thank you... it has been closed for a while do to a fire a couple years ago.... haven't checked the status in a while but I did Search & Rescue in that area... surprising how many injuries happened up there!

It's beautiful there. They should take ids, & reservation to stop the punks, from destroying our land.... We packed out, what we packed in, we were kids, but we still knew better. It was choice.....It's nice to see it again. Rip Hermit....P.s. Deer flies can & will chew you up...😂 Nice vid!💕

Natureszoom I wanted to go to Hermit falls but I’ve found to many recent comments from fellow hikers that are saying it closed off currently. I know the spot is blowing up at the moment because of TikTok and there was a fire and also the lack of basic respect for nature from the teenagers that go there probably have something to do with it :/ So bummed that we can’t take care of these places for EVERYONE to enjoy :(

@@plainbagell Yes, Hermit has been abused for a long time. It is full of litter & graffiti. There are some other nice hikes up there. Hermit is short and the part spot. I am checking to see if it is still closed and for how long. I understand you need reservations to even hike over at Eaton Canyon...CrAzY

Natureszoom Damn! How long have you been going there? I checked AllTrails.com and someone posted on 8/10 saying it’s closed for fire prevention, someone else said most of the Eaton canyon ones are closed. Sucks for me I guess hahaha

@@plainbagell Been going regular for a good 12 years. Oh, now we have so many fires in the mountains to the east. It is not going to open anytime soon. May have to hike on trails near the beaches.

No reservations required however Chantry has been closed since the fires last year. If your looking to hike along the foothills check out my most recent video of the Gabrielino Trail from JPL or an easy hike at Monrovia Canyon. No idea how long chantry will be closed
