Namaste The word deva is derived from the word div meaning to shine or illumine. Devas or Gods have subtle bodies and exist on higher planes of consciousness than Humans. Every deva also represents a psychological power and this power gets activated within a human being when he continually worships a particular deva. Agni represents the will power and thus any worship of Agni strengthens the will power of the worshipper. As per the vedic samhitas , there is no conflict or fight between gods and each deva performs the functions allocated to him in harmony with other devas. Thanks.

This mantra brings prosperity and wealth. There is a nice story. Ganesha is the beloved son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga. Once Shiva was out of his abode Kailasha, Goddess Gurga was alone and she was getting bored for not having anyone around her. So she created Ganesha from her own will. She started playing with little Ganesha. He was so cute!! Durga then went for a shower and asked Ganesha to guard the door so that no one dares to enter. Ganesha stood as the door guard. Then suddenly Shiva came and he could not recognize who the little kid is!! He said Ganesha to open the door as he wishes to meet Durga. But Ganesha resisted and said it is her mother's wish that no one should enter inside the palace. Shiva became enraged with this audacity of a little kid. Shiva threw his trishul (three pointers weapon) and it severed Ganesha's head. Ganesha died. Hearing the commotion outside Durga came out and saw her headless son lying in pool of blood. Now Durga became fierce and vowed to destroy the Universe if Ganesha does not come into life again. Shiva became calm and said its not possible now to add his head to his torso.. But Durga was adamant and started to curse everything around. Durga is adishakti or primordial force of the universe. Shiva understood the danger. Shiva ordered a few other gods to look for a living being who is willing to sacrifice his head for the sake of bringing ganesha to life again. Finally an elephant agreed. Ganesha's head was replaced with elephant's head and Shiva blessed him with life again!! Shiva then declared that Ganesha's worship will take place at first in any worship of other Gods. Even before the worship of Shiva and Durga. This mantra was created in order to declare Ganesha as the signature of prosperity and wealth..

Namaste The upanishads which are a part of Vedas declare that there is only One and to realize this Oneness of all life is the ultimate purpose of life. Every moment we breath, nature reminds us of this truth as each incoming breath resonates to Sah referring to He and outgoing breath to Ham referring to I (The Sanskrit words are split as Sah and Aham and its conjuction is Soham) Every time we breath , we can tune ourselves to this ultimate reality of Oneness by remembering Soham. This is called Ajapa Gayatri and is on an average chanted 21600 times in a day Sah represents Parvati as it is the incoming , introverted energy and Ham represents Shankara , the outgoing , masculine energy. Thus the masculine and feminine , Shiva and Parvati , together denote completion of life. The Yoga Chudamani Upanishad mentions that this eternal chant is itself capable of giving salvation upon constant attention and reflection. Thanks.
