Yes, that was some week leading up to Xmas. We all had great fun trying to get in or out...Lol, but don't blame the airport, blame Met Eireann's outstanding ability to predict snowfall.

danny3902 That is due to Ryanair being a quite successful, most successful Irish budget airline. If you've been on a Ryanair flight, I'm sure you'll notice that they do not spend money on something like a nice, helpful head-rest, adjustable table, small TV Screens, pillows, or even safety booklets, or cards. They run very differently to each other airline, most possibly closest to Aer Lingus, their sort of 'rival' or 'closest' Irish Airline. I personally like Ryanair for short business flights, for example, from the UK, to Lithuania, or from the UK, to Dublin, or even Ireland. However, Aer Lingus, I use to get me to Dublin, then in to the U.S, etc. Aer Lingus, is a lot more comfortable, it's a lot more enjoyable, and the crews in each flight, are a lot nicer. Now, speaking of ladders, those ladders are indeed really cheap, but they hardly make any difference, it's only a walk of about a couple metres, and then you'll be in, nice, warm in your seat ready for your flight. It personally does not bother me.

I landed there on Aer Lingus from Barcelona that day. It was nasty but was the same at every airport all over Northern Europe. I think we were the last flight to land before they closed the airport. The weather was horrendous. I was gratefull to be home!!!

When I see a mess like this, I am so happy I fly my own plane. I did enjoy the snow since it is over 100 degrees outside where I live.

@Ancupola Maybe that's because they are used to the snow, while in Dublin we are not..

@Ancupola What's that got to do with Dublin airport being prepared for snow? Ireland was desperate for employers during the Celtic Tiger (economic boom) so companies hired allot of people from other countries as there was a shortage of people here who could fulfil the job.

I went back and read your post. I believe that you are right in all of them. One thing you have to remember. This is You Tube. Every one here is an expert. You can not debated with anyone here since you don't know if you are dealing with a 12y. So I just stated my point of view and leave it alone. It is just no use to debated with kids or those with a mind of a kid. I wish you well in your travels and you sound like a nice, very smart lady and I don't say that often. Have a great day.

@planes142 You are almost correct. I believe that India and Mexico offer cheaper labour still. My point being that in China we have pride in out nation and are not just there to earn a minimal wage.

@planes142 We also flew with Aer Lingus to Scotland and most of the staff were non Irish. I could not imagine Air China employing such people as we Chinese would not tolerate it!

This video reminds me of what I experienced in Frankfurt at the same time of year. The difference was that the Germans appeared to be marginally better prepared!

You guys get yearly snowfall, and occasionally get storms and so have equipment and fully trained up crews to man it, in Ireland, we never get snow. I doubt we even had proper deicing equipment, as you can see. A lot of the snowplough where local farmers helping out

@planes142 Hello - I used to travel to Ireland quite often as my husband is Irish. I am Chinese, in China it is entirely unthinkable that non-Chinese would be employed in our airports or indeed in any other strategic operation. The last time time we went to Ireland we encountered very surly and rude Eastern Europeans and Blacks. How do these people get employed in Ireland when there is high unemployment there?

@Ancupola wait, what? Just because you may have the right people to do the job, doesn't mean they have the right equipment to do it..

@planes142 Well, there are hardly any Irish people employed at Dublin Airport! It is full of blow-ins so THEY should be capable of dealing with snow. Clearly not!
