He began his career in 1974 at Wall Stadium in Belmar, New Jersey in the Sportsman division. In 1976 he moved up to modifieds and has been there ever since. When the NASCAR Modified Tour was formed in 1985, Tomaino joined the Tour and has driven in almost every Tour event to date. Over the past few seasons, “The Jet” has cut back his full-time driving schedule but he still finds time to make a handful of NASCAR Modified Tour starts each season and he has fielded entries for Chase Dowling. Tomaino has made at least one NASCAR Modified Tour start every year since the Tour’s inception in 1985.

Really exciting race I got floracing for dirt racing but these things are pretty fun to watch too, some of the best pavement racing I've seen

back in the early 70's asphalt racing was king here in the northeast, slowly dirt mods took over, but i still love asphalt mods!

Back in the 80's, we would go to Wilkesboro on a Sunday afternoon in September to watch 50 laps of limited, 100 of late models, and 150 of modifieds all for a grand total of $12 for adults and free for kids under 12. Best afternoons ever, and the grandstands were pretty much full on the front stretch.
