This was a super exiting project! I just found Your channel and i am glad i did! I quite resently realized how much more potential we actualy hawe today when it come to combine different types of modern virtual tecknology with old scool craftig, i hawe the feeling most people are so to speak still more or less stranded on either side today, but one often misst the oportunity to use them more as an extension tool. On closeup i makes a massive differense to use actual real world models, but for many reasons it is usualy not possible to create full scale scenery for things like a full scale movie setup and there are things that can't realy be done that way, but is possible to make in CGI. This was briliant and a lot of insiration!

Spraying solvents directly on foam can sometimes yield interesting results, depending on what you're after. Sometimes - again, sometimes, depending on your paint and how you approach it, you can get away with not melting anything, or at least not melting it significantly. Luke there, seems to have been lucky in this regard, and that luck has made him even more of an asshole, but his luck will not hold out forever. If you really care about your piece, and are at all worried about it, don't chance it. It's only a matter of time before you (or Luke), totally ruin something you care about. In any case, there are solvent-lite or solvent-free spray paints out there, like the Liquitex brand. If you have to spray without sealing, just use those.

Either way would add more visual interest, & bring it back to something more akin to mundane rocks.
