All the Cyberspace music was EDM like this, so with the level format being more linear and faster-paced than in Frontiers, they decided to make an EDM Remix of the overworld music, and while it's not my favorite, it didn't deserve the huge backlash it got. You can change the music anyway, I personally recommend Digital Circuit.

Thinking on it a bit more, I’ve come to the conclusion that the reason Chaos Island is even here is for the same reason as Mephiles. Both of them share the same theme of being unfamiliar or forgotten, Shadow doesn’t and never will know Mephiles, he saw to that himself, he has been erased. Chaos Island is itself a part of the long forgotten Starfall Islands, it’s the stronghold upon which the Ancients built their weapons and machines. Shadow has never visited Chaos Island, nor the Starfall Islands, however Sonic has or will, Sonic remembers the events of ‘06 however slightly so it is possible he remembers Mephiles. In a way these two are Sonic seeping into Shadow. It goes even further than that, it was specifically Mephiles’s final battle against Shadow that was brought back, and if you notice, the purple goop that has been seeping into Chaos Island and the surrounding White Space is from Mephiles. He has some control over time, so it only stands to reason he is trying to force himself out and corrupt the timeline with some essences of himself. It won’t work however, we all know how Generations ends. And we know from personal experience that Chaos Island is free of his influence in the future. Furthermore when visiting the Starfall Islands Sonic has a chance to say “At this point I wouldn’t mind Shadow lending me a hand.” Considering just how tough the Islands were to toil through, it only makes sense why he kept constantly talking about his friends or the world. Something to keep himself from stressing, and as a way to remind himself why he’s fighting so hard, especially in the later islands.

The dubstep is perfect. It matches perfectly with the situation. The original Chaos Island is peaceful, but the dubstep adds a sense of urgency, as Shadow becomes more and more corrupted by Black Doom’s powers.

This level is kind of insane. A hub world turned into an action stage, but it works super well and has tons of alternate paths and variation to it. It’s also one of the best looking levels visually, to the point I’d say it looks better than the original did in Frontiers (the reflections with those greenish blue lights especially looked great). Also I like how it has a mix of the main island melody, but with the pace and general feel of the Cyberspace music from Frontiers.

Gerald did say that some places may be connected to Shadow's future. I have two theories as to why hes in Chaos Island: - 1.) His connection to the chaos emeralds and master emerald. It's already confirmed that he was based on the prophecy that Gerald found (journal), and since we now know the chaos emeralds were from another world, Shadow may have some relation to the islands after all, due to what his whole existence was created on: chaos power. - 2.) Shadow will actually go to chaos island some time in the future. Ian is now creating a plot line that connects all the games together, and since Shadow was playing through sunset heights (which he did eventually appear in the future), maybe Ian and Sonic Team already have a plan for Shadow's involvement in the next Frontiers game.

@@Zeelzebub327 same here, i love the surge of EDM we've been getting in recent sonic games. i know some people don't care for it, but in the grand scheme of the franchise, sonic has always kinda reinvented its musical identity based on the popular sounds of the time. what was hot in the early 90s? hip hop and pop. what was hot in the late 90s and 2000s? punk rock. whats hot in the 2010s and 2020s? EDM and its many, MANY subgenres. like drum n bass, dubstep, trance...etc. we even got a bit of modern metalcore in frontiers with the titan themes and i'm here. all mainline sonic games have soundtracks that were at least slightly influenced by the era and i'm tired of people pretending that wasn't always the case. listen to more music yall!!!!! you might enjoy it!!!!!

This song still has chill moments. Do know the level is more linear and faster pace than the open world exploration that Frontiers was with Chaos Island. It's basically if Chaos Island was a Cyberspace level as a theme.

At first I didn´t liked how this song starts off, it didn´t resemble anything to Chaos Island and Sonic Frontiers at all... until 0:25 hits. That, fell like getting hit by a bucket of cold water to the face, and not gonna lie, I started to feel quite nostalgic as the level progressed. I also loved how in contrast to frontiers the soundtrack was, because you expect the calmness of the simple movements in frontiers and are hit… to be fair incredibly hard with a version of chaos island that is anything but what you’re used to. Shadow Chaos Island theme feels like he's in very unfamiliar territory, somewhere he's never been before, the edm part is that baffling feeling he's having as the island feels bizarre to him like he can't find his way or comparhand what's going on, as the edm continues it gets disjointed and corrupted as if he still can't make sense of the area or environment, but at the second half of the music it feels like he finally found his footing and knows the way ahead.

i thought the song are perfectly matched with Frontier's vibe in general the heavy distorted EDM reflects on the fast paced nature of the stage, and it perfectly encapsulate Cyberspace side of Frontier's track (I mean if you remove that it's a Shadow Generations stage, i would think this is one of Frontier's Cyberspace OST) and the latter half have the more melancholic piano tracks that Frontiers went trough with the Open Zones Shadow Generations basically combines the two style of music, but more focusing on the high-speed nature of the game

Im still not gonna get over that 0:47 noise. Its genuinely annoying to me and sounds like the equivalent of scratching the bottom of a kitchen sink but everything else its cool. This would fit better if one, we ACTUALLY went into the volcano while it was active or two, we were actually in Cyberspace. Hmmm Gerald said in one of the cutscenes that Shadow may have defeated Black Doom in the future, yet this was Post 05 Shadow, he already defeated doom, meaning this is a future Black Doom, meaning he's gonna return, and with how Chaos Island is here....could it be we might be taking a journey back to the Starfall Islands again to stop Black Doom? On a Unrelated Note: I was kinda sad in Act 2 did not show any Super Sonic Cameo of him fighting the Knight Titan, since the Volcano Erupted, meaning Sonic completed the pinball puzzle and was ready to fight the Knight Titan.

The music goes hard af, but am I the only one wondering why Chaos Island is even here in the first place? All of the other stages are from games Shadow was in and then there's just this random frontiers level when Shadow was nowhere to be seen in frontiers

House music and EDM being one of my fav genres had me on a rollercoaster when SEGA decides this should be the new sonic music and i LOVE everysingle bit of it i loved Frontiers Cyberspace tracks and this fits amazingly well still even if youre not an EDM fan idk why people hated it??? in level is so good😭

Because they (Cyberspace music) sound like EDM tracks put into a Sonic game and not "Sonic EDM" songs. They lack the personality Sonic music tends to have. Even Forces, another EDM heavy OST, had that down, Modern Sonic even having Rock mixed into his tracks and the Avatar getting cheesy vocals. And only like 1 of the songs of the top of my head leaned heavy into EDM/Dubstep, and even then, it wasn't NEARLY as aggregious as, say, Exceed Mach soundin' like some anime youtuber's intro minus the rap/hiphop lyrics.

@@spinceiling7442 It means exactly what it sounds like. It doesn't sound like music that'd be in a Sonic game. It sounds hella out of place and unfitting. It being good, which is questionable, doesn't really matter when feels like it doesn't belong in the place it's featured.

@ There are so many different genres and styles of music in Sonic games that don’t sound like they’d typically be from a series like Sonic (like the harder sound of Shadow, or the more cinematic orchestral styles of 06 or Zero Gravity). If you don’t like edm that’s fine but this argument has never made sense to me
