www.asirobots.com The Chaos High Mobility Robot is more capable than ever, with hot-swappable internal battery/payload bays and the ability to carry over 100 lbs. Battery life is at least four hours, with the upper limit and range not yet determined. As a platform, Chaos will work with almost any payload or arm, and can accept alternate power sources and radio solutions, as well. (This video shows the arm ASI designed for the previous Chaos design bolted onto an improvised rack with an external battery.) Tracks can now be adjusted and changed without the use of tools. Chaos is currently being used for several military functions as well as underground mining operations.

Fantastic! The robots are starting to look more finsihed, more autonomous, less, "Stick built". They should. Compare the tanks of WWI to the refined models of WWII and present, which sortof exemplifies what I am talking about. Robots are beginning to look like they have come to their "mid-design" life---smoothing the design out a bit more and they will gain the look of "ready to go". This one has come a long way toward that goal. Top notch performance!

I had a RC version, the Tarantula. It was a little bit smaller and about 100x slower. RIP Tarantula, it drowned in the house flood.

Wow! That is quite impressive, and good for its size at overcoming obstacles. But what if it's in a tricky environment, and it needs to make a 90 degree turn? Is it able to do so with the tracks in any configuration?

On flat terrain, wouldn't it be able to go faster, or at least use less energy for the same speed, if it was standing on the tips of the legs (the part with the smaller wheel)?
