There is hard and soft lock ons, my theory rn is that with hard lock is that it'll point the camera at the target, but the targeting reticle will be restricted to the direction the AC is facing as it turns. Also I'm pretty sure that at 1:58 on their vid, 8:35 on yours, when they dash past then quick turn and do the beam sword combo, that it's just a manual 180 quick turn like how you could do in ACFA and and just looks a bit weird 'cause of hard lock. Seems to me that the hard lock is to help make melee less janky I think the "toggle display" button is where there's almost certainly more detailed info on parts and that, similar to the menu layout of the souls games Yes there is stagger like Sekiro's posture mechanic. I'm pretty sure that's what the "Impact" stat is under the attack power of a weapon is related to that If you haven't already, I'd recommend HIGHLY VaatiVidya's newest video, he goes into a lot of detail about the things he got to see at SGF23, like the HUD. He might not be an AC OG but he did recently play through every single AC game in preparation for the release of 6 so he may as well be And I gotta say, it's so nice seeing someone who's a fan of the older games not just shitting on this footage and actually be excited and happy, welcoming the changes to bring AC into the modern era of gaming. The only experience I've ever had with the Armored Core series was with number 3 on the PS2 long, long ago. I remember loving it back then, and this is looking absolutely amazing ^^ I cannot wait to get this

I noticed something about the quad miniboss. If you look closely the blade it has looks like it has a long handle like a lance, it's lunge behaves similarly. I remember one of the interviews mentioning new melee weapons such as a lance. Conversely the AC the player has seems to have a shorter than average laser blade. I have a that melees have a quick combo and powered charge attack. I also believe that different melee weapons will have different melee ranges and attack speed.

This is actually going to be my first Armored Core game. I was really happy when the initial trailer for this dropped because I always knew *of* Armored Core but never got to play it, felt like it would've been something I LOVED in middle/high school. Would've adored this series growing up cause I love sci-fi and mecha anime shit. That being said, the main reason is that I'm glad Fromsoft is finally moving away from Soulsborne/etc again, to bring Armored Core back to life, again. They were easily realizing that they as a *developer* were too niche to bring Armored Core itself out of being niche, and are basically using their newfound reputation and rapport with the industry at large, to go back to what I'd say is their true baby, and making it CRAZY to bring in new fans and make old fans very, very happy. Learning from their in general game dev experience as they made all of those, to improve and refine Armored Core. I'm SO hype man. Really want to see if I can't do some emulating of at least one of the older games before then, but maybe I should just go straight into the fire? Anyway, from watching Vaati Vidya's vids about this game, he's also played a ton of the series and mentioned that Armored Core 4 had a more extensive stat spread/chart that you could check and look at while in assembly/garage. I think that this game will still have that, with the "Toggle Display" option in the control tooltips in the bottom left. I can't wait to make some Gundam/Knightmare Frame ass Armored Cores!!

Soft lock is still a thing as confirmed by other creators that saw this demo in person. Essentially you have both

It is especially apparent from missiles hitting multiple targets, depending on the approach.

I'm guessing a different way to describe the lock on is Passive and Active lock. Passive lock helps with the crowds while Active lets you be precise. Just waiting for payday to snag my preorder

You’re one of the only og AC fans that’s reacted to this who isn’t concerned or up in arms about the obvious things they took from souls. Idk if you watch VaatiVidya but he released a half hour breakdown of the gameplay you watched and he photoshops a hud to show what it looked like in the build he saw at SGF. Should definitely react to it! It’s meant to ease souls fans in since that’s what his channel is based on, but I think you’d appreciate it. Just happy mechs are about to get a BIG jump back into the spotlight

I love the blade attack in this new entry. I am just disappointed that is too short of a footage and no hud display. this probably a GOTY material

It has soft lock just like the original And a hard lock on just like souls Some of the mech builds have the same or slightly better turning speed Some of it can be fast as armored core 4/for answer

When the ac boosts behind the droideka enemy, the hard lock isn't what made him turn, he most likely used a manual quick turn input

People seem to not have noticed this (with VaatiVidya even going as far as simply HOPING) but there seems to actually be a more detailed stat info in the garage. If you look back at the customisation scene, you can see button (Y) named as "Toggle Display". I'm damn sure that it's to bring up the more complicated, specific stats. EDIT: Ok, I'm now convinced that that is the case. There's another button combination that includes (Y) which brings up the help/guide. If that ain't for stats, I don't know what is

You can see at 16:40 I notice the "Toggle Display" option among the other options below and wondered if that is possibly related to giving us expanded info on the stats for our AC. But wasn't 100% sure if it would be. All I can say is that if they were to put extended info on the display of information provided then it would likely be under Toggle Display.

My only hope is the hard lock-on doesn't automatically turn your AC towards the enemy and is instead a manual input. Because if it isn't, why use a tank or heavy build that will be more grounded while the fast agile builds have full horizontal and vertical movement? Also in an interview they say to think of the hard lock as coming from AC4, because they got the idea for Souls hard lock-on from the auto-sighting in AC4.

How difficult do you think the enemy ACs are going to be if they now stay locked on better then in previous games, have a shield and also use repair kits when low on ap?

Like I said, there are different ways a game can be "difficult" than just making enemies stronger. You say we have a shield, but do we know how much energy it consumes in comparison to everything else? And the repairs, I heard there's only a limit of 3, how do we know that those aren't something we must use sparingly throughout the mission? As the missions might be longer than usual? And as far as the lock on is concerned, please tell me has locking on an boss made any other game with a lock on "easy" to face overall? Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, NieR, Dark Souls? We must realize that we have not seen the full scope of this game. We have only seen so little of this game yet already drawing so many conclusions. When this is only one preview of 4 mins. Let's not be so quick to judge please.

@@ChaosAngels16 that's why i was wondering how difficult it was going to be because some people complain about the lock on or shields and repair kits but if enemy ACs can have all of these gameplay elements as well plus now having complex movements this can turn out to be a very difficult game. Think you might have misread my comment 😅

@@maatstaf6399 I did indeed. And I apologize for that. 😅😅😅 Mistaking it as an argument of the contrary as some individuals are quick to do. To answer your question, you are most certainly right on the money. Much of the additional mechanics were added likely due to something we haven't truly seen yet. The difficulty in question, can be much more than just enemies dealing more damage. In some ways we will likely have to be even more methodical in the making of our ACs depending on the bosses we face and hell even the mini bosses. I can consider that though it may not be the same form of difficulty we would experience from previous AC games, we will likely find ourselves dealing with more complex mechanics we have yet to see when it comes to it. There will most definitely be a great deal of bosses large and small. And they can go with any direction for the AI in terms of Dexterity. Hell, we could be dealing with some enemies that a big, that we would have to destroy parts just to deal damage to them. Ya never know. 🤔🧐
