I love how the music changes tone between zones. The first one is pretty relaxed because you're cruising above everything on a plane. But when it gets shot down and you have no choice but to continue on foot, the music feels quicker-paced and more desperate.

I personally have to disagree, the first act is more quicker paced because you're fighting against what is practically waves of enemies while act two has you travel by the bar area which is relaxed

He still used the rocket engines on his plane in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. In the beginning of the game in the Angel Island intro, and during the good ending of the game, when Sonic and Tails return the Master Emerald to Knuckles (after battling Dr. Eggman and Mecha Sonic on the Sky Sanctuary and in the Death Egg) and before leving the Floating Island for their next adventure.

The opening sequence and Act 1 is gucci as hell... Gotta love a groovy entrance with Sonic on the plane in the morning, cruising through the desert. I also really love how the lighting changes halfway through. The atmosphere is awesome with this one :) Just imagine being on a biplane in the Arizona desert with this music playing lol
