Btw on gen 4 you should be able to easily do this challenge via the cute charm glitch. That can make it incredibly easy to get random shiny wild encounters if the pokémon species has a gender ratio. Looking forward to more of this series for sure! I was hoping for RNG manip when I saw the title and was not disappointed! I'm glad this method is becoming more well known and accessible (thank god for blissey's and cappycapital's videos, as others out there). Shiny collectors should definitely have the option of using it, because not everyone enjoys the emotional challenge of doing full odds. Kinda wish you'd had a reset counter for this. Would give ppl an idea of the tricky nature of gen 3 rng manip.

i'm currently (sorta) doing a cute charm glitch oak challenge run in diamond and ngl it's a bit decieving unfortunately - You can legally obtain cutecharm through cleffa, which is after the first badge (thus you can't have it for the first encounters). - Wurmple obtained that way will only evolve in one of the two evo, because the PID only matches one (beautifly's, which means that doing it in pearl would actually be wiser since the coccon version is avaliable in the wild unlike in diamond, i do not have their name in mind on the account of having the game in french and i do not remember what the translations are) - Munchlax is something to take into account, and not all trainer ID allows you to have a early Munchlax (My cute charm save doesnt have a early munchlax afaik or i keep failing the rng manipulation). - Burmy will be shiny in only one gender because, well, the glitch touches only the opposite gender (all my shinies are, well, female because of it, getting mothadam is going to be harder). - This is, also, not counting that Chatot, used for rng manipulation past the trainer id manipulation, is obtainable only after the first badge. Checking which seed you are on right now with the coin flip is.... before getting the box legendary. All in all, it's not as easy as you might think and you might have to do some good ol' shiny hunting before being able to enjoy the glitch and really plow through the challenge

I have no idea if someone else said it here, but for the encounter slot 9 pokemon you could have doubled the amount of frames that would pass to get to your desired target by entering a wild battle. Obviously, this would add a 2nd frame perfect input into the mix, because you'd need to leave the wild encounter on the right frame to hit your desired target.

With rnging you can get a cute charm glitch in heartgold and through the pokewalker you can get a jiggly puff before the first gym, letting you get shinies 1/5 times making it a little less annoying to do this in hgss. In the future for the safari zone, you can also just change the time to 11:59 and when it turns to 12:01 am, it counts as a day and you can do this all 100 times :) Would love to see this in hgss though as I’m currently going for a shiny living dex using rng in gen 4

Full Emerald Nuzlocke is something I've wanted to see for a while now. Some rules you'll need to figure out: Do you use the battle loss = run dead rule? I want to see that, but that might be too hardcore. Do you include Gym Leader Rematches and/or Steven? Lv 50 or Open Level? Level caps? (Are forced inside of the Battle Frontier anyway.) No items except held items in battle? (Also forced inside of the Battle Frontier.) If a pokemon dies mid-facility challenge: Do you exit the facility because it is healed between battles? Meaning you'll need no deaths except on battle 7 to proceed. I would say yes except for the Battle Pike and Battle Pyramid as no heals. If you come across a room in Battle Pike that revives, maybe allow the revive but if the pokemon is dead at the end of the facility, box it. Do you allow revives if found in Battle Pyramid? If following how it is usually handled: No. How to handle judging KOs. I would not consider them as death. Battle Factory: Either skip or use battle loss is run dead. One death can proceed and you must swap the dead pokemon, but two dead equals leave facility. Battle Tower: Link tag battle only allowed if they are nuzlocking too. If you choose this route, you may wish to start with Battle Tower in case your partner cannot make it all the way, then you could switch to single battle or AI Tag battle. (Does that format contribute toward the symbol?) If one tag partner loses all pokemon, but battle won, the run is alive but must leave facility as you would if a single pokemon dies. WARNING: If you link data, you can end up battling against link data trainers when you reach their win streak. Likewise if you tutor your AI fans you can end up battling against those trainers as well as having them as a tag option. Absolutely route for the post-game encounters. If you do it right you can actually get 3 more encounters with the Regi trio. (I know not post-game, but with dupes clause it is possible to force a Relicanth and Wailmer or even a Wailord.) Maybe also use the Champion area of the Safari Zone. Leave a route without an encounter for Latias/Latios later. Legendaries allowed may be controversial. I see no issue with using Rayquaza as it will be banned once you get to the Battle Frontier, but maybe you decide to ban it anyway. Groudon/Kyogre's being post-game make them useless anyway unless you decide to include the Steven battle and/or Gym Leader rematches. However, if you're using level caps you could only bring them to the Steven battle which would trivialize that fight but could make for a fun victory lap. Best battle frontier team is Swampert, Metagross and Latios with specific natures, but do you allow yourself to RNG manipulate for them? Swampert, sure because you could just restart for a good one otherwise. (As you should.) If you do allow RNG manipulation, if you mess a manip up, own it and keep playing or restart the entire run.

I did a RSE shiny living dex of all forms of every species and both genders of each species throughout 18 save files or Ruby sapphire and emerald. I utilised soft resets, run aways, breeding and random encounters. Didn’t want to use RNG manipulation because you end up with PID clones and I wanted it as legit as possible Challenge took me over a year and half to complete but I have everything except Jirachi now in HOME
