Chap Tilak by Ilahi Sufi Qawwali

The women of Ilahi Sufi Qawwali sing the 800yr old kalam Chap Tilak at a Sama School of Music retreat hosted by De Moksha Eco Friendly Boutique Resort in Bali.
In this poetry, Hazrat Amir Khusro (ra) expresses how divine love (Ishq) for his master Khwaja Nizamuddin Aulia (ra) has dissolved the illusion of separate self (nafs).
A piece of translation:
"You've taken away my identity with just a glance.
Forcing me to drink the wine of love, you've intoxicated me with just a glance.
My delicately adorned wrists have are held tightly by you with just a glance.
I give my life to you completely, oh my cloth-dyer; you've dyed me in yourself with just a glance."

Sufi Qawwali ensemble ILAHI, features 10 female singers - accompanied & guided by Tahir Qawwal on tabla. The ensemble performs traditional devotional songs featuring Sufi poetry from Pakistan & India.
Tahir Qawwal, the beloved leader of qawwali group Fanna-fi-Allah, has paved the way for this talented group of Bali-based women to learn and perform this music. Qawwali is traditionally offered by all male ensembles in the East. Tahir’s recently released documentary series ‘Music of the Mystics’ takes people on a journey to the heart of Qawwali culture. Episode 3 of the series shows a unique perspective of the feminine in Sufi culture, and features the creation story of llahi.
