Yes...when I visited it on 2009 I was fortunate enough to notice there was a concert in the Royal chapel that night. I think it cost less than 8 Euros. It was performed by Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles. I cannot understand why the chapel is not open to Catholic Sacraments such as traditional Mass. The music and chapel were meant for a purpose.

@@johnfisher247 Because we're governed by the masonry and they forbid only the Catholics to practice their religion. If you don't know about and are interested to understand, you should look for the books of Claudio Jannet and Nicolas Deschamps or look for the editing house Éditions Saint Rémi that have beautiful Catholic books in different languages.

Doreur compagnon. Si j'avais 30 ans de moins voilà ce que j'aurais dû faire. Très beau travail et merci à tous et toutes. Cela me rappelle les prêches que Bossuet faisait en dénonçant ce double adultère qu'était la liaison particulière que Louis XIV entretenait avec la trop magnifique Athehaïs de Rochechouart-Mortemart, Madame de Montespan.Tout les regards se tournaient alors vers le Roi perché sur son balcon...quand à la "pécheresse", Dieu seul sait quels sentiments cela devait provoquer dans sa jolie tête. Ils y a quantité d'histoires et d'anecdotes liées à cet endroit.

Beautiful work. Another masterpiece has been brought back to life. Three years ago I visited Versalies for the first time and saw the restoration in progress. I'll have to return now and see everything now that it is restored.

I was privileged to attend the Exole Des Beaux Arts in 1967 and 1968 when it was located in the Palace Complex at Versailles. The building structures are amazing and of gigantic scale. For instance the rain gutters are more like fantastic patio areas at lease a dozen feet wide and all sheathed with thick soldered lead panels. They don’t leak. Wine and cheese lunches up there are memories for a life time. The attic structures behind the mansards resemble a forest of very large old oak trees much more than the structure of a building. Clearly wood was used more organically (less cutting into boards and big limbs still intact as it suited the builder, with amazing joinery making beams jut out in seemingly random directions. I watched as Portuguese stoneworkers replaced blocks one by one, sawing out a block, sculpting an exact duplicate that is just slightly larger and then sliding it firmly back into position. And if there was a carved detail they just told a worker to match it perfectly, which he did. No pretense, no mystique, no fake art drama. Just serious practice of the stone cutters trade. One of the most memorable trips I’ve ever had. Picnic on grounds, visiting palace, cycling around grounds, Le Hameau de la Reine visit, the fish the fountain all wonderful. My kids loved it too, 11 and 8 years old. 🙂

Quelle architecture manifique. Si vous êtes un passionné d'art, ne manquez jamais Versailles. Une journée ne suffit pas pour tout le Château. Il fallait des mois pour réserver les billets. C'est plus facile maintenant avec moins de touristes. Merci pour cette Château de Versailles. 👏👍👌
