Instead of swivel swivel can you use small split shots to keep lesd where you want it?
@CHAPPER154 жыл бұрын
Split shots work by crimping your line, therefore weakening it. What you can do is double your line back through the weight twice and that can keep it in place.
@TB-xw3vo3 жыл бұрын
If a fish breaks your line and you have the sinker below the swivel. Then the fish will have the hook in it's mouth and will be dragging the weight. Eventually killing the fish

Is crab a good bait?

Sweet video great pointers ! What videos do you have for targeting mangrove snapper similar to this with best bait choices ? Thanks
@CHAPPER155 жыл бұрын
Mangos I tend to use lighter jigheads 1/16-3/8 ounce and shrimp. I'll eventually make a "fishing with jigheads" video about how to get the feel.

@@CHAPPER15 im cheap..can I use fresh dead or fresh frozen on a jighead for Mangos?....I spend the winters in the hudson/Hernando beach area...caught a large hogfish once 13 miles offshore Hudson on a dead shrimp but have never caught a mango..cept a few small ones at Weeki Watchee...

What size/style hook are you putting on the back of the ball jigs? Great video and thanks for the info!

I give people the option. J or Circle are both effective and each have their own benefits.

Thanks for the info. Is a hog bite similar to say a grunt? I guess what I'm trying to ask Is there a particular feel to a hog bite? Have heard some people let the hog eat/run with bait for a few seconds... Never been hog fishing, but I'm going to try this winter out of egmont key.
@CHAPPER156 жыл бұрын
It's soft since they're eating off the bottom they don't really grab it and run. When using circles basically start reeling as soon as you feel the bite. The big difference is the fight. They fight much harder than most snapper or grunts, and you'll recognize that fight after getting a few.

@@CHAPPER15 Thanks for the reply. When grouper season ends I'll get out there and try for a few. Fish the bay 99% of the time.

That hogfish jig with the eye looks just like a jig that was real popular up here in N.J. that we use for fluke. Try tying some bucktail hair to the hook. really like the videos where do you fish out of?

Hey Jon, what size hooks do you like when going with the swivel sinker rigs and knockers? Thanks Kerry Hennessy #DSFL #Pirates

Man, whenever i go fishing the hard bottoms and ledges all i ever catch are those stupid key west grunts :( Its really demoralizing. I have to burn through 100 key west grunts for every other fish. If not more. Tried every method. Nothing seems to work. Grunts completley ruin the fishing

Great video. The customers were using Hogballs on the trip in the video I just posted. They seemed to work well.

Yessir just checked it out. Looks like you guys had a great day! The big lanes you got are awesome fish and we've seen quite a few of them this year.

Doesn't seem to be a real difference between a knocker rig and a lead jig...
@CHAPPER155 жыл бұрын
For an angler with experience maybe not. I've noticed anglers who don't have the feel they tend to lose their bait more often on a knocker rig without knowing it. On a jighead they tend to feel more bites and know when their bait is being eaten.

@@CHAPPER15 ill use whatever the Fish prefer!...I yardsaled most of my jigs and plastics because Ive lost patience with inshore fishing...im a Filet hunter and prefer offshore bottom fishing..Ive gone to Bucktails mostly but really no jig lure works that well without a fresh bait attached in my limited experience..a bucktail is just a jig with hair though...really here in NC offshore I could just use a top bottom 2 hook rig and do well..we dont have mangroves and our hogfish are way offshore..but they are Huge..much bigger than what I see in FL...thx for ur response
