No idea if you are still taking the course but your videos are a big help sir, even ten years on. You take complex things and make them extremely easy.

Thanks for the video. I've been working through Lagrange polynomials today and managed to come up with an interpolating polynomial over 4 data points using Lagrange basis polynomials. Your previous videos have helped me to gain confidence in the terminology, process, etc. This video was fantastic even if it was more of a review one. Thanks for putting these resources up.

@SpitTanker (x) is the independent variable for the Lagrangian interpolant, the xi and xj are specific points at which y values are given.

I love playing around with all sorts of arbitrary interpolating functions: not just polynomials. To fit a given functional form, g(x), to (n+1) given data points (x(i),y(i)) for i = 0 through n, just write f(x) = sum of g(i,x)*y(i) where g(i,x) is a function, depending on i, which has the form g(x) but such that g(i,x(m)) = 0 for each m in 0 through n not equal to i, and = 1 for m=i.

also, I kinda wanted to know Why does the formula look like this ( a bit of an explanation ), and I was not looking for someone to speak out loud the symbols of the formula while writing it down slowly.. we can kinda see all this when we look at it. oh well maybe I should just look up the proof of it to understand it better x)

is calling the number 0 "not" a widely used thing? found it rly weird (my mother tongue isn't English tho) also, if you use Lagrange's name often, why not bother looking up how it is said correctly? :S :S :S sorry for the negativity, just had to say it Peace
