I’m from the Scottish highlands and am now 45. I’ve raised my 3 kids since 1999 and I have to say that I consider George W. to be one of the best leaders in my lifetime. He certainly handled 9/11 with strength and you could see just how devastated and hurt he was by the attacks on his land and people. The politicians came together under him and when you compare that to the state of today, where they just want to attack each other rather than help the people they’re supposed to represent I feel things were better back then. Just my 2 cents worth and I know many will disagree.

My husband is a USMC combat veteran (serving active duty 2002-2006 and then in inactive duty from 2006-2010) who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan as well as taking part in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Now my husband is not the biggest fan of our legislative and executive branches of our government but there is one American president that he loves and that president is George W. Bush.

Yes, surprisingly for me too. Lots of terrible mistakes, certainly. But I also read there are streets named after him across African cities for his policies towards AIDS drugs. He didn’t have to do that. It didn’t serve his neo-con cronies’ interests. But he did it anyway cos he is a human being who had the power to help fellow man overseas. Jesus, compare that to trump from the same Republican party!!!

Bush had issues, but let's face it, his leadership post 9/11 was critical to the ability of the average American to get through what happened after. The world changed overnight, and I don't know if Gore would have had that same ability. Something about being a southern boy and the grit he gave to the response gave the average American a feeling it would be okay.

@@kip1052 you should try somewhere in the Middle East maybe, where you’d be imprisoned and likely tortured just for talking negatively about the country. Or maybe Mexico where cartels run the show and commit mass murders daily… So ironic how the ones talking crap always seem to forget how fortunate they are to be able to even voice their opinions without consequence.

I remember 9/11. I believe President Bush handled the situation extremely well. Bush showed calmness, but he deterred that calmness with retrotration. I am not sure if any president now or the past could have handled this terrorist attack any better than President Bush. 9/11 was just like everyone said I heard on the radio as I was going to work that a plane hit a building bin NY. By the time I got to work all the employees were in the clubhouse watching another plane hit the twin tower. Our supervisor said go home now. I live at ft Bragg NC. One of the biggest airborne military bases in the US. I remember when I got home it was like a ghost town. My husband was in the 3-325 infantry. Try to call him but no answer. There was hardly any vehicles in the parking lot at our apartment complex. Nobody knew what to do or where to go. For this younger generation you will never know fear until u face it. I am deeply concerned about our leadership at this time. This leadership has shown alot of very weakness. And I do not believe they or will have any knowledge or how to react to such terrorism. The next attack (which I believe will be very soon) will be the most devasting attack that human nature has ever witnessed. The Iraq's all ready have in the making of nuclear war. God has already said "I will intervene before everyone tries to kill everyone". America and the world time is getting short. The book of revelation is coming true. Make sure your heart is right with God. I never dreamed that America who was built so strong could utterly be destroyed by one person. It ended when Americans started taking God out of our country.
