The new High-king Fingolfin hosts a 'Feast of Reuniting' (Mereth Aderthad) intended to usher in a new era for Beleriand and bring stability to the relations between Noldor and Sindar. Later, Ulmo visits Turgon and Finrod in their dreams, and the two cousins put in motion plans to build the cities of Gondolin and Nargothrond, respectfully. We also see the first appearance of Glaurung, the father of the Dragons; Morgoth's new not-so-secret weapon.

Late to the party, but I had thoughts on Ulmo's vague influence on the Noldor. I apologize if you have already explored this in later videos. Ulmo was originally the strongest advocate of non-intervention toward the First Children. His independent action to speak directly to them now reveals the urgency with which he delivers this message. But time has proven that telling them how to live has failed. He made them aware only of the imminent danger and relied on the strength and wisdom of the Noldor to prevail. It also makes sense that Ulmo would be most informed on the movements of Morgoth, but would not consult with other Valar on the issue. No action could be taken by the group to help the exiles, per their banishment. The Noldor had just spent 20 years setting up a party. This was Ulmo's reality check. "It's time to get to work."

So interesting so much of the problems in the Silmarillion stems from terrible communication haha. I’ve already read the Silmarillion but isn’t revealing Turin killed ... a spoiler for a first time guide? ( unless it said in LOTR and appendix which I probably forgot) . Regarding the story of Galadriel that indeed one of the best retrospective aspects of the Silmarillion. Even though LOTR stands on its own ( of course with the hobbit). It really just showcase why Tolkien originally though it was important to have mythology and LOTR released side by side for thematic aspects and character growth. One real unfortunate thing about the Silmarillion is probably the sheer distance ... of course the writing is amazing but sometimes you wish just to be in the characters head a bit more to see they thought process. Though I do know the appeal is the Tolkien was inspired by old legends, figures of history you could state u having to interpret from their actions. Anyways fantastic vid and completely forgot this was the introduction of Gurthang.

Technically it is a spoiler, but I'm not concerning myself with that particularly in this series, since _The Silmarillion_ spoils itself repeatedly. Túrin himself is even introduced in Chapter 17 as the "bane/slayer of Glaurung" (can't remember the exact quote) so it won't be a surprise when it actually happens in Chapter 21.
