It’s AMAZING how God works through our follies. Our sins will bring us to tears, but God’s plan for our life will reign supreme if we continue to seek Him first. Thanks Pastor Asscherick for pointing me to that quote on page 238, I’ll keep it on the sticky side of my brain, always, I’m encouraged to keep striving for the mastery 🙏🏾

I’m so behind. Trying to juggle work, school and devotional. But moments spent with #OTwithDA is the best. My word for this chapter is birthright. I felt like it was the focus of the whole chapter. Each side pulling to give the birthright to the chosen person whether by God’s declared time or there own personal agendas. Let’s not sell our birthright for cheap indulgences. But rather share the good news and unite with Christ to claim our inheritance of heaven.

I’m somewhat behind in keeping up but savoring each Pearl and gem of wisdom ! I’d venture to say that the redolent Yiddish word ‘mensch’ would’ve applied to Jacob . Look it up . It fits on all levels .

I wonder if Rebekah spent more time with Jacob training him to take over the family business of herding and growing, knowing he was destined to inherit. And thus neglecting that education in Esau, which resulted in even more strongly emphasizing Jacob and Esau’s differences in character. (Esau grew up loving self-gratification while Jacob grew up thoughtful and care-taking.). How different the outcome might have been, if they had both been loved and trained equally by both parents. Not the outcome of the birthright, but the relationship between the two brothers.

Jacob was really like Issac and Esau like Rebekah

I was thinking the same. We do tend to clash with ppl that are sometimes too similar to us. We end up often times valuing characteristics in others that we wish we had in ourselves…

Let's go easy on Rebekah the line went through Abraham then Issac, not Rebekah, let's focus on the priesthood of men as it relates to the family. Generational weakness Adam down to Issac and now Jacob
