Chapter 25 - Pankor Laut - Day 1 & 2
DAY 1: We skipped over the part where we took a private car from Ipoh to Marina Island. There we checked in to the Exclusive Pankor Laut hotel on private Pankor Island. We took the resort's speedboat over to the island and had a brief orientation in the hotel lobby… then we were shown to our villa on stilts over the sea. We went to Emerald Cove to watch the sunset… then to the Feast Village restaurant for an amazing buffet supper. Then we walked in the fresh night air back to our villa.
DAY 2: We had a leisurely breakfast… which included a visit from the hornbills, Malaysia’s national bird, we took a walk on the beach and walked through the Spa area to take pictures. We joined a walking tour offered by the resort’s staff naturalist, who took us to see the fruit bats roosting, and the “strangler vines”. We went back to the villa so that Neo could fly his drone. That evening, we dined at ‘Feast Village’ which was offering a Malaysian street-food style buffet dinner, with many small stalls set up around the courtyard, each stall offered its own take on Malaysian street food, which featured lots of curry and chilli, and satay.
