i'm from Vietnam and my major is accounting.Well, i have attended a ACCA coach center recently. There is a bit difference in straight line method in compared with what you teach. The formula of depreciation charges that i have learned is depreciation amount = (carrying amount/cost of purchase -residual value)/remaining useful life. I'm really confused now @@

hmm in pro-rata basis to calculate depreciation, i don't think that dep charges = cost * 9/12 (20:18). As i guess, dep charges = dep charges in one year using SLM (=1000$/4=250$)*9/12
