Hi Ana. Nice video. Quick question. At 7:49, i noticed the bridge backwater effect stays there even when you change the timestep (i am presuming that RAS still produces the backwater effect even during low flows). I have noticed in my models that if we model bridge in RAS, even for the case when water is not touching the low chord, RAS still produces the backwater effect. If we compare water surfaces for bridge/no bridge scenarios (assuming water not touching the low chord), the resulting water surface profiles comes out to be different. Have you ever expereinced this and if yes, do you know how to address this/perfectly model a bridge to avoid this discrepancy? thanks

Hi Thanks for your great video. I was wondering how can I see the bridge deck in a profile line? so if there is an overflow I could observe it

Hi, I think I would create a normal profile and if I want to see the brick deck in the graph I would create a clone terrain simulating the surface of the bridge. I am not sure if there is directly a way to see the deck that we create as 2d connection.

Good afternoon. My name is Bruno. I'm a civil engineering student in Brazil and a great admirer of your work. I need to carry out a simulation of the rupture of an earth reservoir for water storage located outside the water course. My question is whether Hec Ras allows me to carry out this type of simulation or if Hec Ras is just a simulation of structures in the water course. Is there any software that allows me to simulate the rupture of an earth reservoir to accumulate water outside the water course?

Thank you! I did enjoy doing these videos and is great that people find it useful I do have a video of a dam break simulations, it does not include the debris material in the flow through. You could similarly simulate and earth reservoir if you can estimate the parameters of this break, i.e. time to break, and shape after break. Lot of luck with your work!

@@anajuarez_madrid Hello Ana. thank you very much for answering me. the issue is that I need to simulate the rupture of a reservoir that is outside the watercourse and not a dam in the watercourse. So, because it is a structure outside the watercourse, there is no upstream and downstream flow data. Have you ever done or seen someone do a simulation of the rupture of a reservoir outside the watercourse in hec ras or in some other software?

@@bruno180586 I would create two 2D-flow areas, one for the reservoir, and anotherone for the downstream area where the flow will run. In the reservoir 2d flow area, I would set the initial condition to a water level, the level of the reservor, instead of an inflow discharge. Then I would create the dam, with a 2D conection, and break it at time 0. It is actually really similar to this model, just donnot set an inflow data, just the level of the reservoir. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oauki3qto55-pdU I hope this helps Ana

Hi, I have some question. When ı save my geometric data my terrain is disseapear? So ı cant see anymore about bridge. How can ı solve this problem? Thank you.

Hola Ana, sabes si hay alguna forma de introduzir varios puentes a la vez usando un archivo csv o alguna macro VBA en Hec-ras?
@anajuarez_madrid Жыл бұрын
Hola Luciano, nunca lo he intentado. Los puentes se introducen en función del perfil y la altura del terreno para cada sección. Sería un poco complicado estandarizarlo. Si tienes muchos puentes iguales una opción podría ser tantear sumando y restando al perfil y altura en una hoja Excel. Sorry y mucha suerte!
