I have had such a hard time adjusting to the actual names of the characters in FF7. When I first played it, I renamed all the characters to my friends or rappers, and that is how I remember them all now, haha. This was "Biggie" 😝

It reminds me of GIJoe. But I like cartoony version which might make it more kid-friendly. Sometimes the normal proportion allow more range in access to props and vehicles.

My understanding of the metal bands on his belly is some sort of support for his spine/back to make up for the weight of the arm-gun. edit: or bullet-proof vest.

6:50 the thing is: The redesigns are acctuali not taken from the OG FF7, they are from the movies and Dirge of Cerberus.

Have you looked at them, though? Barret especially looks very different between the og and AC, so much that i'd say it'd be a bad update compared to remake/rebirth. I'd probably knock most AC designs for straying from the source and putting black on almost all characters, but that was the edgy era it came out in. They definitely went back to the original to crystalize the original looks while considering updates.

Gotta be "that guy": Solid Snake didn't always have a beard. Neither in the old 2D games nor the original MGS. His beardedness started with MGS2.

@TrentKaniuga I'm pretty sure it is, he does the main characters for the remake series Roberto Ferrari does sub character design just Nomuras style from PS1 FFVII is a different style if you look at art from FFX and newer you can see his style change. but if not, then who is the character designer?

They added a tank top, doesnt look like a shirt to me. I loved the original at the time, but i prefer the new version. It's because of what's capable today. A redesign super true to the original design would look awkward, low effort and pixar-ish, in my opinion
