Wriothesley is such an interesting character! The VA also did a great job embodying him, you can tell the difference on how light and soft when he talk to the child compared to the father!

Ono Daisuke is amazing! No wonder he was entrusted to dub the one and only Commander Erwin Smith! (among other great characters ofc, but Erwin is the epitome of perfection for me

I've been interested in Wriothesley since his first appearance. I was expecting him to be a stern no nonsense kind of guy, but we got a Wriothesley that teases his subordinates, a tea addict, a 4D chess player and he has this kind of lazy atmosphere around him eventhough we know he is anything but that. I love him. Waiting for his playable release!!

What a fantastic character, this teaser was great in showing another side to Wriothesley we didnt see in the AQ

Depends on how you experience the AQ imo. For me, the part where Lyney and the traveller were confronting Wriothesley showed that he's such a teaser with gentle heart, as he already planned everything including the safety of the "fatuis" (Lynette+Freminet), while being forceful to get to his goal. That was the first time I got annoyed with the traveller because the traveller was like "Lyney lied to us and they're all fatui, we can't trust them" to "We need to help them at all cost even though we know that they're trying to find the secret that the harbingers ordered them to" and was accusing Wriothesley, when Wriothesley was just doing his job and did not ill treat the traveller at all. The shift in attitude about the siblings is too great it's not natural.

@@cher1z4rd when playing the quest, watching everything from the traveler perspective makes me think wrio is kind of a dickhead (in a funny way) but then I think for more than a few seconds and be like "oh yeah, this mf is just doing his job lol". I'm also annoyed with how too friendly we are with lyney and his siblings after all that we know about them.

@@cher1z4rd Traveler didn't hate Lyney and Lynette but were being cautious of Fatui's scheme due to their past experiences. They helped with the court case then just bail out ASAP. The 4.1 AQ shows how Lyney was panicking over his siblings. It was just a form of sympathy as they were in cahoots and reliable partners in Meropide. Traveler and Paimon didn't accuse Rizzly for shit, in fact they were the one trying to stop Lyney from being rash before the confrontation. Traveler was just being empathetic during the whole scene. How you come to that conclusion is beyond me.

@@cher1z4rdI was kinda happy that it seemed like they're gonna portray wriothesley (and by extension, sigewinne) to be more menacing and more morally ambiguous than they look in the surface, but as soon as they show that he was just acting, everything else disappoints me so much. We could've had our first actual character that isn't what they seem but nope, they only teased us
@user89389 Жыл бұрын
@@cher1z4rd I agree with you. I loved the quest, but I was a bit annoyed with the traveler. First, we get mad at the twins because they’re fatui… right after we met up with and were all buddy-buddy with a literal harbinger, who we already fought, who summoned a freaking monster on a city that we had to fight as well, while his pals (probably per his command) were trying to hinder us. But that’s cool because he’s the greatest toy salesman in Schneznaya after all! (I too love Childe, but sorry, he’s probably the character the traveler should be the most wary of.) So as we literally hold on to said actually dangerous harbinger’s vision for him, we get mad at the twins who haven’t even done anything yet because they’re fatui and didn’t tell us. Makes sense. And then we change our mind and decide that we actually like them and will stand by their side, even against a man that’s just doing his job, doesn’t even have high demands, and has been nothing but kind, polite and generous towards us. Even when things calm down and the traveler goes and asks Wriothesley to “explain himself”, that’s so out of line. The traveler was only involved in the matter because they decided to be a part of it, they aren’t entitled to an explanation by any means. I’m glad Wrio actually called the traveler out both times. First reminding them that he was already very considerate of them, but just because they’re here on a mission doesn’t mean they don’t have to follow the rules. Then by saying that he’s not explaining himself, but filling in the traveler. And you can explain all about the traveler sympathising with the twins is being distrustful etc., even if it makes sense, that doesn’t change anything because that’s just a theory you made and not what the story told. And it should be told by the story, that’s the entire point of telling a story, introducing whatever is happening and what the main character is thinking and feeling, not jumping from one decision and POV to a conflicting one with barely any inner thoughts or clues leading up to that change of heart. I mean if we have the time to listen to Paimon talking about food and having a meaningless encounter with Charlotte, then we have the time to be filled in about the traveler changing their mind about the twins. A fundamental rule in writing is “show, don’t tell”, which Genshin loves to break, but this time they didn’t even tell it, they just jumped and skipped the whole thing. It’s sloppy writing, there is no other way around it. I guess it’s because they focused so much on the bigger plot line of the quest, and had to shove in some drama and Charlotte, and know that at this point a lot of people don’t care about what the traveler does and thinks and only care about the lore of the world and the playable characters, but it’s still a mistake that left the story full of holes from the main character’s POV.
