If I model, should I set the animation key and bring it to a file? Or, is it a good option to riging in the Houdini tool?

Is there a simple way to improve the IK - FK blend to where when you change the slider the movement you made with the IK is not lost? Maybe just having the fk controls follow the bones when IK mode is on and doing the inverse when fk is on?
