The player character is portrayed in the shape of a jelly bean if you hack the camera. This most likely prevents anyone from knowing who or what the main character is. It's already been theorized that the player character is also a toy, since he has no voice, is able to continue moving when they fall from huge heights, and has a very small height.

The player is a normal adult human. Mommy Long Legs and Huggy Wuggy wouldn't attack the player if it wasn't. Remember that Mommy is hostile towards adults but kind and caring to "experiments" - kids and toys. The lack of voice is just a normal game implementation; player voice is rare in horror games (such as in BATIM). And the lack of fall damage? Plot armour.

It's so awesome that Roth was in there! I know he is trying to branch out with his newer stuff, and some people might not respect his older works, but I think that this is a great lil cameo! Also, Zachary and Micah look like clones and Avalon looks like the female version of them. Gotta love genetics!
