I love how he starts with 3 British accents, when the document he's reciting was basically a big middle finger to Britain.
@cremullins95584 жыл бұрын
Eh. Not really. At the time the revolutionaries still considered themselves British by nationality (Paul Revere never shouted "The British are coming!" for instance, what he actually said - not shouted, said - was "The Regulars are out.") It was more a middle finger to King George III and to the British Parliament than to Britain itself.
@Semiotichazey3 жыл бұрын
I imagine that the founding fathers must have had british accents, although those sounded different than the modern british accent. Now I'm wondering when the american accent diverged.
@EchoEchoEchoX33 жыл бұрын
@@Semiotichazey funnily enough a time accurate British accent actually sounds a lot more like a standard North American accent than the current British one. Because Britain continued to trade all over the world its accent changed(same with the New York accent) While the Americans typically didn’t have as much trade or interaction with other cultures. So the North American accent is actually closer to the British accent during the revolution and before. that’s why Shakespeare is largely agreed to sound better when read in an American accent as opposed to a British one
@bond007rules3 жыл бұрын
@@EchoEchoEchoX3 True but only to an extent. Shakespearean pronunciation reconstructions have placed it as similar to the West Country accent, but there are many features that are no longer present in either American or British phonologies. Most people would immediate associate rhoticity (pronouncing "r"s) with American accents but many British accents do the same.

The way he not only memorized the voice order but also the Declaration of Independence is absolutely gold 😭
@jiffylou98 Жыл бұрын
The great thing about this joke is that most of the characters are actually saying something to the effect of the Declaration of Independence's message-- from a sad dad wanting to divide into independent houses, to a tiny little man needing his own life, to an athlete being shocked by the offenses of an authority, and even the wizard warning against ancient evil despots that harm all humanity, that neat trick called America rings true through even the most unfancy southern twang
