we had a lockdown last year because a student had a gun on campus but my teacher made us continue our test and MADE POPCORN while all the other classes actually got down and treated it seriously. also this year a kid literally got shot on our campus and then after the student was found and arrested, they made us continue our classes because it happened during second period. gotta love the american public school system

@@genericname8727 You have a good point. But have you seen how Jamaican kids reacted to that huge earthquake hitting them. They were having a good time and cracking jokes. Due to desensitization people have become accustomed to death. Your point is very good and I can agree if the students were truly rattled they should be able to go home. But an argument can be made to have them stay.

Uhhhh, no. The Upright Citizen's Brigade pours out tons of mainstream comedians/actors. Amy Poehler, Audrey Plaza, Ben Schwartz, like half the cast (and probably crew, too) of CollegeHumor. These are the people that will be mainstream tomorrow. Difference could be that these guys are still young and hungry with little to lose, so they're okay with taking comedic risks that could get them skewered alive by the general public. Or that they're not yet subject to the broadcasting rules of a multimedia conglomerate or the FCC. Who knows. But this is definitely not a secret.

This is Art Imitating Life. Are ya'll forgetting, or are you too young to have ever heard, about the Arkansas school shooter event about 30 years ago? Where a fourth grader, I believe he was, was in some tall grass over the playground shooting at students? A teacher went to his car, got his weapon, snuck up on the kid, and stopped him. Without killing him. Funny that. We didn't have school shooters back in the 50s and 60s, when schools had shooting clubs and boys could bring their rifles to school for shooting practice after.

On a serious note, I recall asking my mother why Cartoon Network had so many guns. All the old 80's/90's cartoons included bad guys in orange clothes, guns and stuff about dollar-bills. My mom tried to explain that America was a far-away-country that had different morals when it came to humans. She drew the line when I started painting 'a seat with a bowl-hat with wires that makes you sleepy', which I thought was a massage-chair. From that day on, I wasn't allowed to watch the cartoons unless mom sat nearby to explain. She didn't want me thinking that deathpenalties were normal.

@@SirEriol Thanks haha. I was about 8 when I discovered Cartoon Network, before that, she had VHS-tapes with pre-recorded films and episodes that I watched. Most of it from the 60's and 70's, so I have a childhood that is really vintagey-retro. I can talk to 50-60-year olds about their childhood and relate to it. Really weird. But I did get to enjoy the really properly handmade stuff and puppetry and youknow..the classics, so that's nice. Around the age of 8, PowerPuffgirls came to sortof...ruin that haha.

@Widdekuu91
@Widdekuu91 2 жыл бұрын
@@rivercat26 Hahaha, it's funny how you say you're literally American, whereas I'd expect you to say; 'I was literally never allowed-' instead. xD In hindsight, I also think my mom didn't like cartoon network because of the effect it had on my energylevels. I'd start hitting my sister over the head with a book, because Tom and Jerry did it, or I'd start jumping off of things or running, because in the cartoon they did it too. And whenever she put on a calm, 'let's read a story together'-video instead (or even better, a casette-tape with Bert and Ernie) I'd sit still and draw for about an hour or two.
@rivercat26

@@Widdekuu91 Lol, I put "literally" in front of American because the topic of my sentence was that you're NOT an American and watched american cartoons, and yet I AM an American and I didn't. The "literally" being in front of not being allowed to watch the show makes the topic more on the fact that I wasn't allowed, and not the comparison. At least to me. I think that made more sense in my head. Or it could be location-based differences in linguistics. Idk. And yeah that makes sense, that's good on your mom for her parenting

You present this as satire, but my brother's high school literally went into lockdown his senior year and one of the teachers refused to let students take cover because "well I'll protect you if a shooter comes our way" So just think about that for a second
@rivercat26

My high school went into lockdown, but my entire class thought it was just a drill and we continued class except with the doors and windows shut/locked (it was a student teacher) until the teacher got a text from our real teacher saying "It's not a drill, it isn't on the calendar" and we finally turned the lights off and such. Our class was just like six people and the student teacher, so we pointed the projector at the whiteboard and played hangman while the student teacher sat in a chair next to the door. Don't know what he thought he was gonna do there but-

Maybe the teachers _should_ have a gat, then. Hell, I'd be open to high school seniors being armed if they're 18 and can get a permit. They'd have to keep it safe; keep the magazine out of the piece, trigger lock on, that sort of thing, but I'd have felt a lot safer in high school with a gat in my bag.
