There’s a lot of confusion about electric vehicle charging these days; with various plug configurations, charging speed, as well as the frustration of finding an available charging station and hoping it works when you get there. Well, that uncertainty is certainly making some buyers hesitant to choose an EV as their next ride. So, we thought we’d cut through the clutter and plug into the facts on charging up.

Cell phone networks solved the travel problem with roaming agreements. The car chargeing networks need to do the same. Plug and charge everywhere.

So adding 500 a week… to get to 1.2 million charging ports. My math shows that will take ~ 38 years…outstanding.

All chargers need a simple interface with a credit card reader just like a gas pump. All these different companies like chargepoint, ev go, electrify America all wanting an app on your phone is ridiculous and a huge hurdle for folks just getting into EVs.. the fact is if you want to count on your EV for road trips Tesla is your best bet right now. I have owned three EVs and my current one is a Tesla and it’s a world of difference when road tripping with Teslas supercharger network..

Overnight charging at home or during the work day is how most people will get their batteries recharged. Road trip charging is the piece of the puzzle that nobody but Tesla has really figured out with super fast chargers in good places to stop for 15-30 minutes before moving on down the road.

you know what so funny it's like a self checkout in grocery store or circle k store.I've seen customer spinning their finger thinking which button of the screen should they touch and yet he or she is using an apple phone or samsung phone and google phone.on top of that you make it easier for someone to understand how to charge their ev car.unbelievable man

J1772, then CCS is a Level 1 or Level 2 charger that has Level 3 DC charging ability, Tesla NACS is the North American Charging Standard for all 3 charge levels and can be done at a Supercharger network. Don't forget about CHAdeMO DC charging as well which is popular with Japanese brands

unfortunately, this is a fiasco, regardless of the information. Having tried to live with an EV recently, I learned that nearly everyone uses their EVs like cell-phones. Charge at home, use for the day, plug back in. Everyone else is screwed. Half of the stations I went to did not even exist. Empty lots. The others were broken or had lines. Who wants to park for 2 hours waiting for a charger and then topping up for another hour. Don't these people have jobs???

Haha I wish I could get 5 mph on 110 plug more like 1. All battery size dependent. I hope I never plug into a 110.

I hate getting gas when it's 10 degrees outside, and that takes at most 10 minutes. I'm not going to wait 2 hours for a fill up/ top off.

After owning EV6 GT and Ionic 6 I can state with 100% confidence EV’s are not for 99% of the US population. You MUST have a level 2 charger in your home garage. If not forget it. In Las Vegas you’re lucky to find a charge point charger working at 6.6kw which is 100% useless. Toyota got it right-- hybrids r the future.

Most automotive journalists are currently reporting EV sales are way down, and many future plans are being scrapped. Combine that with decommissioning our nuclear power plants that provide 20% of our electricity and I’d say the switch to electric will take quite a long time. Bio fuels might see their day as well.

The number one problem is no EV can be fully charged in the same amount of time that a gasoline vehicle can who wants to wait an hour vs. 10 minutes to refuel with gasoline.
