Namaskaram Guru garu! as per my research when i was in southeast Asia such as Cambodia, Lao and Thailand - during my university diplomas in particular dance forms of these 3 countries they took only 68 karanas from Natyashastra and in some provinces around 72, but in the clever way they really took very minimum of charis, with less leg movements where mostly they perform only some poses, and in the movements they use only upper body with hands and head, and not using much of charis during their performances- lets take Thai classical dance which i was learning during my research. I realize and understand after my training mostly in this dance form they use aramandi, murumandi but with different leg positions, however, if we take more specifically in thai classical dance such as Ram Thai - they perform Ramayana story as Drama, - when i was training in this i observed many negative points in their own creation of the dance style- when i gone deeper in my research by reading their dance scripts etc with famous dance teachers of Thailand - it was shocking reveal to me - each teacher as you said, changes according to their own techniques and comfort to teach the style..However, there are few other substyles in it like Kinari, Manora or Apsara dance styles in Thai classical dance - they use some charis very closer to Natyashastra - but unfortunately they dont follow the same techniques, but performing as per their local traditional techniques and comfort. But still they accept that their Thai classical dance was been taken from Natya shastra indirectly, but when we question them they say - its not indian, its only Thai and belongs to Thai only.. I mean to say, they try to manipulate that Thai classical dance been copied by indians.. I was shocked..!!!! however, if we go to Middle East in the oriental dance ( in which also i been trained ) the charis and the body postures are exist from Natya Shastra - the manuscripts which i was working out - the dance which they use to perform for Lord Ra ( Surya Bhagwaan ) in temples itself for worships in Ancient Egypt - they clearly used charis, and karanas, khandas and mandalas in their own variation but closer to natyashastra including body postures .. However, if we take southeast Asian and Middle Eastern together - i discovered almost 60-70% approximately most of the moves of ancient techniques of dance in particular formats of cultural and ethnic outlook - i believe - the knowledge of Natyashastra has been implemented!

Even I don't know who introduced this aramandi concept in nrtya. In natya(drama) only sthanakas, steps using the 6 pada bhedas were there. Certain war scenes, these chari, bhramai and utplavanas were used. Now to make their dance attractive, using anything and everything with out even thinking the need of it or the sastra 🙏
