One of the best British made films ever. If I may quote Granpa Simpson, talking about Casablanca. "I've seen this movie countless times. And I never get tired of that ending". And this has to be the best intripretation of Jerusalem I have ever herd.

The last 15 minutes of this film is among the most moving I've seen. I named one of my sons Eric partially from this film.

I ran into a former college track teammate of mine, he ran the 400, I, the 100/200. A few of our colleagues are dead, some we haven't heard from in years. When he left, I thought of this song, and scene, how we were once the age of the movie characters, strong, energetic and damn fast. When I am old and decrepit, I will remember this one chance meeting, and this movie....

Isaiah 40.31-for those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; the shall mount up with wings as eagles ; they shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not be faint. I was saved with this verse in 1984. Praise the Lord Jesus

I'm not a religious person but I love this hymn so much that I would spend hours at the church just to listen to it. I like a lot how in the soundtrack by Vangelis, "100 metres" and "Jerusalem" are joined. The ominous (yet beautiful) theme of "100 metres" then transitions into this wonderful hymn. Blessed be England 😘

@Songsmirth i guess you're asking for the name of that tune near the end of the movie right before they do the main theme. the tune is "jerusalem". it's used in a bunch of things dealing with england. i like the tune, and yet the lyrics are kind of odd. it's based on a legend in which Christ was in england back during Christ's earthly life. the poem encourages people to make england like jerusalem was. before i saw the lyrics, i often wondered why the tune isn't much used here in the u.s.

This segment contains one of the best versions of the hymn "Jerusalem" that I've ever heard. Who sings it?
@willnichlas63175 жыл бұрын
@xy47402 This version is beautiful. I expected it to be in the CD but what I heard was pretty standard. In the movie we hear, as they begin "Bring me my bow of burning gold...", the men sing the standard arrangement while the boys' choir sings a -what?- counter harmony. I don't know the language of music, but the movie, alone, may hold this arrangement.

As luck would have it, I'm reading about another Liddle - Rod Liddle's column in The Sun newspaper (Thursday 11th July) On a more serious note, in the summer of 1990, I shared a house owned by a 25-year-old female who worked in London during the week. She was the PA to Lord Puttnam.
