Hi Mary Beth, I have my table set for my dinner party tomorrow night. I’ve placed a dessert plate on top of my dinner plate with my Waterford ice cream bowl on top of that plate. It looks lovely. My question is, when should I remove the dessert plate? It seems awkward if my guests are already seated at the table. What is your opinion? Thanks for your help😍

I often place dessert plates on the dining room buffet/server for ease of serving. Definitely remove from the place setting. Enjoy your dinner and beautiful table setting! 🍽❤️

This is so respectful and thoughtful of the staff to return items to the living relatives 🔮, I lost 3 large boxes of family heirloom books through the postal services when they lost my items,,,how wonderful it would be to find my family treasures returned after the neglect of the us postal service.

My eccentric aunt always kept my grandmothers huge Limoges soup tureen in the middle of her dresser top. It was beautiful, the handle was sculptural in the form of lilies of the valley and leaves. Inside she kept the elastic waistband from her panty hose, when I asked her why? She answered "you never know when you might need a big rubber band" LOL A depression baby.

Please think about a show on the Indian Summer pattern. Many brands have done this pattern; would be an interesting approach to explaining a beautiful design. I own Indian Summer in Coalport, Johnson Bros, and Spode. It all can be worked together.

So interesting. There is a small charity resale shop in my town that supports a local mission and soup kitchen. It's not as fancy as this shop. However, I've found some really nice things there. I would use the covered serving bowl with those petite flowers as an actual serving dish. It keeps food warm & you can match it with new or old colored plates found in the colors of the flowers. I use my pink & green depression glass dishes with odd covered bowls with lids. Makes the table look pretty & serves a function as well. If gold or silver trim, wash by hand. But for good friends for lunch/dinner, washing by hand in the kitchen provides quality time catching up with each others lives. It makes the "work" go faster too. And often, they get caught up in what you are doing & just jump in wanting to dry the lovely dishes for you, rather than drying on the racks. It often brings back Mom or Grandma memories we share as well.
