@@blasfame1 Charlemagne is correct and that is good for him to stand up for Rittenhouse in that manner in terms of the self-defense. But he obviously isn't aware of the gun situation and the fact that it is not illegal. Rittenhouse was unable to purchase the gun because he was not 18. It is legal in WI for 16 and 17 year olds to use the weapon, however. So it is not illegal and that is why the charges were dropped. Next he says Rittenhouse's mom dropped him off and she should be in jail. This is also not true. His mom did not drop him off, he was there that night before, spent the night at his friends, and working there that same morning. He was literally already there. It's great that Charlemagne stuck up for Rittenhouse on the self-defense argument, but it is not okay to spout off things that are simply not true and perpetuate garbage, things that he probably heard on the likes of CNN. The kid said he asked to protect the used car lot, which is illegal, it’s called vigilantism and the owner never came out and said they even had permission. The kid became an aggressor by bringing a gun to a protest for no particular reason. And the fact that his dad lives in Kenosha is irrelevant because it doesn’t give him an alibi since he wasn’t visiting his dad, didn’t go to his dad afterwards, or even tell his dad he was there. The first person he shot and killed was justified by self defense, but the other two came at him because he was an active shooter at a protest. @@tmzz3609 actually no you don't. Rifles do not need to be registered in NY state. In most states rifles don't need to be registered. Pistols are extremely difficult to get here though. It's a long drawn out process. Took a friend of mine damn near 6 months to get her pistol permit. Not a concealed carry permit. Just a simple permit to own a pistol. They have stuff really backward in this state. They have gun laws on the books that they can't even legally enforce. We have a ton of ignorant politicians passing laws that make zero sense and some that contradict other laws. That was actually the issue with kyle not getting charged for carrying that gun. There are two conflicting laws on the books in Wisconsin. Politicians are to focused on sneaking in some shady BS buried under these publicly promoted laws that they miss the conflicting laws that make the new law not legal. There is an old gun law that was made to protect hunters. Yes I know he wasn't hunting. However like the judge stated, "the laws are defined by the statutes within the lawn not the title of the law." That particular law allows a 17yo to open carry a rifle of any type so long as it meets a specified distinction. Nothing in the satute defines where it's legal to carry a rifle. Sure it's a loop hole. But blame that on the politicians that make those laws. This charge would have never made it to trial if the judge knew that the rifle was within the defined description in the law. He admitted that he thought that the prosecution already check this and that's the only reason he allowed the charge. After they measured the rifle barrel and overall length of the gun the judge realized it was perfectly legal for kyle to carry it as defined by the law. He also expressed that this wasn't his first case where these conflicting laws have came up during a trial he was involved with.

He had a job as a lifeguard in Kenosha and worked a shift on Aug. 25 before helping clean graffiti left by rioters at a local school. There, he and his friend were invited to join other adults who had been asked by the owners of a used car lot in Kenosha to guard the property after 100 cars had been torched the previous night, when police abandoned the town to rioters. Kyle took his gun to protect himself, since the rioters were violent and armed, including, for instance, Antifa medic Gaige Grosskreutz, who lunged at him with a loaded Glock pointed at his head before he was shot in the arm.

Gents - how can you have an opinion when you don't have a working knowledge of the situation? Just jumping to conclusions without knowing the basics? Schulz, appreciate you bringing in facts here- 1. He was not in possession of an illegal firearm. Legally in Kenosha County - as a 17 yr old, you're allowed to carry a long rifle. You're not allowed to possess/carry a pistol. That's why the gun-charges were dropped. 2. His mom didn't drop him off that night, she dropped him off the day before to clean graffiti in the city - he stayed the night in Kenosha - the gun was already at his friend's dad's house. The city is less than 30min away from his legal residence - that said, his family, father, best friend, and place of work are all in Kenosha. 3. The local gov refused to let in the National Guard to protect their city. Locals took up arms to protect property, put out fires, etc. Local business owners asked for help in protecting property.

Yes, it is legal for any persons under the age of 21, to carry firearms visible to the public (I.e. open-carry, not concealed). The problem is that law only allowed open carry for minors, under 21, to carry openly for hunting, military service or target practicing. Rittenhouse stated he was there for protection of property and self-defense, neither of which protect you for firearm carry laws in Wisconsin. He should have been charged with Class A misdemeanor at most, and acquitted on everything else.

Hours before closing arguments began on Monday, Judge Bruce Schroeder granted a defense motion to toss out the weapons charge. Rittenhouse attorneys Mark Richards and Corey Chirafisi pointed to an exception in the law that they said allows minors to possess shotguns and rifles as long as they’re not short-barreled. Assistant District Attorney James Kraus argued that the exception renders the state’s prohibition on minors possessing dangerous weapons meaningless. But when he acknowledged that Rittenhouse’s rifle’s barrel was longer than 16 inches, the minimum barrel length allowed under state law, Schroeder dismissed the charge. Edit: Keep preaching, Schulz. I hope people drop the hate speech and embrace honesty.
