She pretended to like Balmoral and the highlands but once she was married everything changed! Whereas Camilla was very natural with all the hunting and riding and hiking and... Camilla was more honest than Diana. Camilla didn't aim to be queen and avoided being Princess of Wales and settled nicely for Duchess. She didn't use Charles.

I think she liked the fantasy of being a princess. It's why she agreed to the marriage. She just had the wrong idea of what it entailed. In fairytales the princess is the star and the prince is an afterthought. But in real life she was a consort and was meant to be a support act for the main event, her mother in law and her heir.

I don't think the Royal family separated them. The whole scenario does not make any sense. If Mrs. Parker Bowls really loved Charles, she could have waited for him. He was gone for only two years. In no time she married the other guy. Does it mean she was seeing the two men at the same time? Then when Charles went abroad she used Mr. Bowls as a spare part. As Christians you marry once, for good or for bad. What many people fail to realize is that Camilla is not in love with anyone but herself. She is very selfish. What kind of a woman abandons her husband and two children for another man? Does it mean her children did not amount to anything? If she is a loving person she should have not dropped her first husband and children and a hot potato. Enough with the Royal family drama. Many things have gone wrong within that family. Princess Ann herself is a divorcee. Prince Andrew is divorced. Then most recently, we all learned about Andrew's scandal that cost the Royal family a fortune. Why are people not focusing on the other problems within the Royal family. Princess Diana should be left to rest in peace. She was a very special young lady who had an impact on the entire world. The marriage to Andrew was pushed for by the royal family to get her out of the way while Charles was abroad. Once she had given him his heirs then she had done her duty to him. He was sleeping around from the start anyway. Diana gave Charles his heirs and then started sleeping around before he returned to Camilla. She had two children and was carrying on in front of the press- not mother of the year material. She also didn't understand that she was a consort. She was there to support her husband, the heir to the throne, not take away the limelight. Camilla herself loves Charles and he loves her in return. They have been together for a very long time and are still going strong. Not every man wants young arm candy. Charles was never a playboy prince who chased after beautiful girls. He wanted an intellectual equal she share his hobbies with. Diana hadn't even finished high school and he was the first royal to get a university degree. The "Christian" angle is a red herring. The Church of England is part of the family business, so it can't be ignored entirely, but most of their subjects are not believers, let alone members of the C of E. The other churches mostly accept divorce. Divorce is a "no fault" procedure nowadays, and no longer socially unacceptable.

Has the showrunner ever commented on the Queen Mother? The Crown always seems to have it out for her in particular. I always heard Elizabeth of Bowles-Lyon was witty and dry, much as HBC plays her in the King's Speech, and that she had a reputation for her sense of humor. But every portrayal in this series is of an incurious old money frump either reinforcing the most antiquated and harmful aspects of the whole institution or complaining when anyone dares to step out. Her only jokes tend to be cruel or whiney. And then here, it is heavily implied even she with her supposedly saintly husband had to endure infidelity, though the only well-known fling of Prince George, with a married woman, was well before he and Elizabeth married. Nobody comes off as perfect in this series, but there's a special vitriol and contempt when the lens focuses on the Queen Mother.

Seeing the political condition of US and many other republics around the world, ppl don't want to let go of the monarchy to bring instability to the nation. Even in Australia when the republicanism was at its peak, majority still voted to keep the monarchy. Btw, RF doesn't get a single penny from taxpayers. The money they receive from Government is 25% of the profit generated by the Crown Estate (75% is given to Govt.). RF has privately owned two duchies to cover their expenses.

Firstly, this film is far too dark and secondly Diana once said she "felt like a lamb to the slaughter". What DRAMA from this pushy 19 year old bratty young woman! Be it a royal or a commoner BACK OUT of this artificial wedding and marriage! Princess Margaret was right when she said this has to be stopped. I think this decision had to come from Diana first and foremost and where is her father? Don't ever put yourself where you don't belong. Diana was too focused on becoming the Princess of Wales!! Diana also did Fergie in when Diana tipped off the photographers of Sarah's whereabouts when she was having her toes sucked!! Sarah was wrong but Diana brought this out because she was jealous of Sarah's attention from the British people. Diana was afraid of competition. Scotland Yard had to be called in to handle all the harassing phones calls Diana was making to Camilla! Diana got away with so much because both Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace did their best to hide her revenges and her meanness until people began leaking stories even from Diana's camp.

Actually, that's a good point. If Charles III dies before Camilla, she wouldn't be called Queen Mother, because she isn't William's mother. The usual title would be Dowager Queen. William, out of respect for his father, will take care of her as a member of the royal family, but I imagine she'll disappear into the background, so the public can finally move on from the chaos she and Charles caused. He'll have enough to deal with, depending on if Harry is still trying to make headlines.

I think if he dies her name and titles will be the least of her concerns. She actually loves him. The biggest mistake the royal family made was to seperate Charles from Camilla - they mistook a real love for a fling. To a point I think even Charles and Camilla did not realise how serious it was and actually imagined they could get over it.
