Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another Charles Aznavour reaction made possible via PATREON with "Emmenez-moi." Charles incredible vocal ability to captivate but also move you is imminent. The song is filled with deep lyrical sadness, but also hope. Dazzled with piano, string and orchestral arrangements.

Migrants. Stop using the term expat when talking about largely white people. People who live their country to live somewhere else are migrants. Don't be afraid of that word. As a french person of color I am TIRED of y'all casual racism.

This is a story about a young man living in a port city and dreaming about the boats and ships coming in and going away, fuelled by sailors’ stories about wonderful and sunny lands at the other end of the world. He dreams of a better life travelling the seven sees. Despite the upbeat tune, it’s quite a sad song: at the end of the day, the narrator is still stuck in his rainy, gloomy town. Several Aznavour’s songs are about nostalgia and unfulfilled dreams. Another very nice one in the same mood is “Je m’voyais déjà”, which tells the story of an ageing comedian who dreamt of success and fame but never achieved anything but cheap gigs and a miserable existence. Very upbeat tune as well, and so depressing lyrics:-)

This song is about people dreaming of a better place, somewhere under the sun. This applies to immigrants and to people wanting to shine in the show business (the sun, the sunlight, the spotlight). This is realy a double entendre song.

Such a shame you didn't see a live version! You can find one on youtube. It's so much better to see him sing it! It's a very difficult song to sing, very fast! He was a master in placing his voice and lyrics on the music, spot on, he managed to sing his songs in a different way every time and still, always spot on!

Thanks a lot! Huge song, which for twenty years has been again highlighted in live covers (tv , concerts, karaoke, etc...) by not countless artists and people.. It has now become a classic , a must of Charles. Though I love this song, I confess I prefer much more hundreds of others tracks by him. "Et pourtant", "Comme ils disent", "Que c'est triste Venise", "Il faut savoir", "Et pourtant", "Le temps", "Sa jeunesse", "Une enfant" hugely coverd by Edith Piaf, "La mamma", "Hier encore", the so poignant "Mourir d'aimer", etc. His spanish versions are huge
