Our local news channel back in the 90s when Charles played for the 76ers, they would play his post game press conferences for the comedic value he had with those journalists. My dad would laugh his ass off at the things he said. Barkley will never change. He's always the same person no matter what. He and Shaq are the only reason I pay any attention to basketball.

Charles was talking about Kevin Durant. His take is harsh but not exactly wrong. The Warriors won a championship before he came to the team, and when he joined them the next year it was viewed as piggybacking because he didn't make that team the best, they were the best before he got there. Durant has been on many teams and the only time he lived up to his tremendous potential was with the Warriors. He's an amazing player with insane stats, but he just doesn't win the big one, and if it's not because of his abilities it's because of his attitude.

Barkley was an absolute beast as a player. An undersized big man who would crash the boards and grab defensive rebounds, then explosively lead a fast break and push the ball coast to coast, sometimes taking it in for a beautiful lay-up, monster dunk, or amazing pass for a big man. His ball handling was excellent and he was a great all around player. He grabbed way more rebounds and had way more of an inside presence than his undersized height should have allowed. He routinely manhandled bigger, "stronger" men and was one of the most dominate power forwards in a time period known for its towering big men and physical play (with much tougher defensive rules). A few words I would use to describe prime Charles Barkely: tenacious, fierce, indomitable, strong-nosed, intense, and even a little bit mean. He's known as a funny man now because of his outspoken nature, but he gets under younger player's skin so badly because when he criticizes them, they know it is criticism coming from one of the all-time greats. Barkley was so good, and had such an amazing 1992-1993 season, that he won the league MVP. That was in a time period when Michael Jordan was the dominate player in the league and the Bulls were on the way to winning three championships in a row, their first three-peat (and Jordan was winning league MVPs all the time, so for other players to win MVP during that time period was almost unthinkable). The Suns lost to the Bulls in the finals that year, but Barkley was amazing both in the regular season and playoffs/finals. He carried that team on his back all season long and willed them to win. Only MJ and the Bulls stopped him from earning a ring, probably 2. Same can be said of many great players from that era. Shaq's criticism of Barkley not having a ring is B.S. There are lots of great players and teams from that time period who don't have rings because of one reason: MJ+the Bulls

Chuck literally joined the back to back champs. He forced his way out of Phoenix and said he wanted to get traded to the Bulls, Knicks or Rockets. Why? To win a championship. .Everything he said about KD applies to him. He never got shit done as the best player on the team, so he went to Houston to get a chip and failed again.

@@darnarxz Chuck was traded there. Clyde and the dream were both 33-34 years old. Which back then was when guys were on the way out. Not like today where u see guys closer to 40. Chuck also didnt play them while 3-1 and then join them. KD should've had his team beat the warriors that year. So to then take that massive failure and join them is not at all the same. What Chuck did was get traded to a team that had aging players in hopes of a last horah.
