3:35 Byron Scott is absolutely correct! When basketball is played the right way, it is beautiful. The excessive one person dribbling and dominating the ball while everyone spreads out waiting for a three is an eyesore. It’s the product. It’s not the commentators.
@determinedmind16094 күн бұрын
Kobe said it best and coined it "accidental basketball". The Spurs and Warriors were the last two beautifully played offenses in this current era. Also the Nuggets and Kings, I might be missing a few, but most teams play iso ball and dribble the shot clock out until they find someone on the 3-point line.
@CasualGamerPlays3 күн бұрын
But how can the game be beautiful, with the way the rules have changed? The basics of the game are missing because the players of today don't have the basics fundamentals down. The product today is shit
@ninocrown32473 күн бұрын
The play style is abysmal and redundant. But Adam Silver has wh0red the NBA out to all these different steaming companies. I’m in my 40s, so I grew up watching free games on network TV and TNT. As a kid and teen, watching the NBA playoffs and Finals on CBS, NBC & ABC in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Now you have to pay all these different streaming services like League Pass to watch them. Many people just don’t have it like that, in this crappy economy. When Byron, Coop, Shaq and Chuck played, you could see the top NBA games for free. Silver’s NBA took the Faustian Bargain. More revenue from these streaming companies, resulting in more money for players, but now they get less eyeballs driving down the popularity of the game. When these streaming contracts are over, I guarantee there will be a major reversal in revenue. Plus young people will just watch highlights and clips of games on their phones, versus sitting for hours at a TV, watching the entire game. I’m sure Adam Silver will retire and disappear right before the Titanic crashes into the glacier. Then as a retired commissioner, he’ll brag about all the massive player contracts he fought for, to deflect any questions about plummeted ratings and the mess he leaves the next commissioner.

I believe the players truly appreciate their fans. I've seen them acknowledge the crowd many times when at a game. The NBA's only loyalty is to profit. How is that the broadcasters' fault? And don't even get me started on jacking 100 threes, that stupid 3-second circle, pinky-brush fouls, no hand checking, and load management. The only reason I still bother is because I truly love the game and presently watching Jokic and Nuggets and the few teams who actually play fundamental basketball. I haven't seen a game since Magic retired, and by the looks of the game today I won't be watching one anytime soon!

"Kids love that now". I was at the arcade and saw a NBA video game. A couple teens were playing. Their game was full of dunks and three point shots. It looked too much like the way the NBA game is played (minus the pick and rolls, we must admit). "He's ON FIRE" LOL

The league is losing viewers for the following reason. 1. Everyone just shoots 3's. No more mid range game. No more post up battles. 2. Barley any defense is played. 3. Players load manage and don't give 2 craps about the fans. Star players play when they feel like it. 4. The league became started to become far too political and insulted it's conservative viewers. 5. Lack of hustle and zero competitive drive. A lot of players and star players nowadays are content with losing. As long as they get paid their happy. 6. LeChina is horrible for the league. He's the biggest reason the nba is arm of the democrat party. 7. Also a lot of viewers don't want to support an openly racist company/league. The amount of hate nikola jokic gets because he's white is insane. The way shaq told jokic he felt SGA should of been the mvp and not him while millions watched was insane and very disrespectful.

Dude stop whining . It has nothing to do with white or black players on the democrats nonsense! The game isn't played as it was intended anymore and has become soft and overly selfish. Golden State and Denver are the only teams that are fun to watch in my opinion. I think the big fella on Denver is great and I'm a " Black " guy. So quit with your nonsense!

I would have to disaggree. I love the NBA I don't watch entire games . The internet has changed everything. I love watching the highlights of the games . Are the ratings down for on TNT AND ESPN ?
@isaiahgomez66713 күн бұрын
I thought I was just growing up and I was out the loop but the reason is down is because the players are not marketable. They don’t have fan appeal. Every team had a star. The games were competitive

I love watching 10 Black guys running up and down the court flinging countless amount of 3s...and also all the TV commercials with tons of Black folks in every scene.

"Inside the NBA" is the reason most of us watch the NBA right now! LOL
@rahmancooper97163 күн бұрын
Most games are basically all star games. A bunch of threes and dunks. All they want to be Steph and or Houston rockets harden. I watch college more than the NBA. Some of those games are unwatchable. Shooting 50 threes a game and making 30% or less. A bunch of iso ball too.

There are many reasons why the viewership is down in recent years can be attributed to not many people are staying up late the younger generation are busy with their social media and all the games are now on cable channels

@DeadSezSo so watching men 6'8" and above get a rebound in the paint less than 3ft from the basket kick it back out for another missed 3 instead of going back up strong with the ball for the easy layup is good for the game. Mind you those same individuals can't even make a consistent turnaround or fadeaway jump shot. What's the point of being 7ft and you can't post up when you have to.

JJ Redick is a coach, and he is no longer an NBA commentator. His comments should be focused on his team. He is the only NBA coach to comment on things beyond his own team and that creates distractions
@bosshova232 күн бұрын
Charles is 100% correct...... The game is trash nowadays. There's no strategy there's no offensive plays being ran It's just chuck up threes all day long

“Dead men walking” Every coach that coaches LeBron James is a dead man walking … Any coach in the NBA that coaches LeBron James needs to keep half of their stuff in the U-Haul Because you know you’re not gonna be coaching him for more than two years … with the exception of Eric Spoelstra

Coop shot some 3's, but his defense is why he was an "all timer"! The NBA needs to roll back all the legislative adjustments they made to get defense out of the game. Because what they really did was remove the "soul" of the game! Hell I am a Born and Raised Lakers fan, but even I had great respect for those old Nicks and Pistons teams. because they were great defenders. Something you will never see in this day and age.

The media (and media access) is at least half the problem. I don't want to pay for a service to watch a game that may or may not be good, but if I had free, easy-to-find access to games, I'd be watching a lot more. If the game I happen to watch is boring, I'll make the decision to turn the channel. That said, Barkley is correct in pointing out that the game itself is being degraded to the point of unwatchability. If I went to a game where they were putting up almost 100 3-pointers, I'd be bored and turned off. Fire the Commissioner! Silver has no plan--just throw crappy ideas up and see what sticks to the ceiling. Problem is, that's a surefire way to end up covered in 5hit.

Viewership is down because the players don't care. The real season starts in the playoffs. Shooting 3s has nothing to do with it. If you don't care I won't care. The NFL is do or die each week. I'll take that over the NBA.
@yokosomike3 күн бұрын
It is a great game and I personally don’t like it when it becomes a three point only game but I also think the world has changed. I haven’t owned a television in 10 years and I would rather catch highlights on KZbin than waste my time watching a whole game. When the playoffs come, if my team is in it, I will pay to stream the playoffs only and then get involved in a the series. Player today also make too much money. You got AD aka “streetclothes” and La Bronda floppin and complaining about everything… you still root for the team but by no way are these guys the same caliber as the Laker greats of the past.

Lakers definitely aren't competing harder than the last few years. Team is way worse defensively and that's all effort.
