Charles F.Lummis wrote the book The Spanish Pioneers, including the astonishing achievements of the Spanish in America. A very honest man, Who described the real facts of the Spanish conquerors and settlers, this book should be read by those people who in recent years are inventing, distorting the truth and changing the past to conform It to their prejudices. A remarkable book that should be read by all American scholars.

Charles Fletcher Lummis became an advocate for the Native people of the Southwest because he saw with his own eyes what the Spanish had done for them: missions, sedentary homes, agriculture and livestock farming, education... dignity! Alfonso Borrego (great grandson of Geronimo) will tell you how the few surviving Natives were able to defend themselves from Anglo extermination with the horses and rifles given to them by the Spanish. HThey survived but were deprived of everything by the Anglos and driven into reservations. My blood boils when I see how the US Woke saviours tear down and deface the statues of Junipero Serra, a fransciscan monk who was greatly loved by the Natives, while they know and say nothing about the US generals who exterminated them and even have cities to their name.
