Sections are so fresh and brilliantly cheeky.. Charles Ives slaps, big fan for 20yrs now... This is deep beautiful music..... Translates to metal guitar easy. So im always borrowing from him. Inspiration central right here.....

Love this recording, slightly warbly, sounds very old! :) Have a good memory of hearing this piece for the first time when my choir went on tour to Chicago (from the UK). Didn't even know our conductor could play organ than he whacked this piece out. I absolutely love how playful it is. Brilliant!

Heard this performed ibn 1972 (or 73) by a band of high school students (US) in London of all places. The consternation on the faces of the Brits was priceless!

Bravo! Well done. Played just as indicated at the end where the composer says "hold on to the bench with one hand and pedal it just as fast as it'll go" So many other performers fail to do this but not you. Excellent.

When I was very small, on Sundays Dad would play records for my sisters and me to dance to. This was a favorite. (On Saturdays, Mom would listen to the opera on the radio.)

In the origin, it was a melody composed in 1686 by Lully to celebrate the healing of Louis XIV after he underwent surgery for an anal fistula. God save the royal arse!

@@rolandmeyer3729 Yes I know, but it was used to depict drunken soldiers. Here is treated like a normal part of the piece.

Pocas veces he escuchado una obra para órgano tan hermosa como ésta. Es una coincidencia haberla escuchado hoy 2020 Octubre 09 en la emisora CLÁSICA 88.5 de Cali, Colombia.

Hey, if you don’t know, there’s an orchestrated version of this piece that, in my opinion, does a lot more justice to this amazing piece; but just because of the associations with have with various instruments and how they relate to US and (US) revolutionary history.
@rolandmeyer3729 Жыл бұрын
The orchestration was by William Schuman, an oft ignored dean of American fine art music.

this is a good reason to black mail the writers so the scene allows for "variation on America for ORGAN (failure)". Make it a little nihilistic slightly with the scene so the Order of Meaning is all the music. You're welcome for a good show fam. You're welcome. cuz the clown showed up.

@7:18 I like this part all erratic. no we don't know what we are sometimes. so you just say it louder anyway. like if we could write better arts to keep cultures tidy, we would have done it. We're figuring it out. What is an American? What is America? Well we're figuring it out. Well, it's 2024 and Caroline just realized that white people are actually mixed race depending on their mix. They look weird and act weird too. So while the movie writers come up with a good attitude adjustment, better reintroduce some Charles Ives as well. Who are we? Doesn't look like this composition is exactly convinced about the patriotic song. We're still figuring out our identity. At least he's honest. You can't say it so you can make a composition and say "well that's you're interpretation ". It looks like the Joker got way.
