I must admit 'wokeism' doesn't seem to be as talked about in France (where I live) as it is in the US or the UK. When I discovered this 'ism' I first thought isn't this the modern-day equivalent of 'Enlightenment'? Didn't we all 'woke' in the 17th and 18th centuries? No, not sufficiently. I don't adhere to any specific wing of politics and am non-religious but do adhere to my own reasoning and believe I know how to differentiate between what's wrong and right. To be nonracial seems evident to me. The BLM movement, to my thinking, is a tautology, or should be. Isn't it evident that ALM (All Lives Matter)? It's a sad state of affairs to get to this point in social ideology, centuries after the era of Enlightenment. Does it mean that, as a human race, we just don't 'get it' ? We haven't learned much? I suppose it does, yes, and there are too many more or less contemporary examples of why we are still at this point and how we got here. A French student, Pierre Valentin, writes that wokeism is 'an opium of intellectuals'. We need to teach philosophy in schools, open up the arena for debate, encourage reasoning and stop the tendancy for blind adherence to groups, political parties and 'isms'.

He touches on so many points in so balanced and reasonable a way. I had expected him to be more "Tory" (not merely socially conservative (small c). What are the odds that an hour after this goes on my Facebook page (though I do not look at it more than once a month) some whining fool will have called him half a dozen of the silly, inappropriate labels he deftly pulls apart? Anyone give me 20 to 1?

Splendid stuff. Please God, let this kind and quality of common sense prevail. How can a properly informed world possibly desire to live without the British in it? We have done and given more than any other, though now, frankly, I wish we had been much more self obsessed.

I cancelled my National Trust Membership as did my wider family because we objected of their new way of going etc, they are devaluing our history and cultural and historical artifacts, statues, history of buildings etc. This woke society has just lead to a massive increase in young people's mental health disorders which in turn is paralyzing their view of the world and their functions in society,, many can't cope in wider society because not everyone thinks the same as them and will have opposing views but the young people have Lost the knowledge and experience of debate , they appear to turn to name calling or more extreme acts

I always understood it as 'Men and Women are Equal before the Law'. Not that men and women were the same in every other sense. Certainly back in the '70's there was a lot of discussion on the physical differences between men and women because women needed refuges etc. Great vlog.
