A huge amount of both the Arcane Season 1 and Season 2 soundtrack is written and produced by someone called Alex Seaver. He is a fantastic song writer and producer. You might know the EDM DJ's Mako, thats him (and Logan Light). He wrote and produced; Playground, Goodbye, Misfit Toys (the only song he has front credit for) and What Could Have Been from Season 1, to name a few, as well as production credits on alot of things on Season 2. Without him, the Arcane soundtrack would have been significantly different and sadly he gets almost no credit for it....
@minhhapham75492 ай бұрын
how do you know hes not? im just curious and would like to know. Thanks!
@kyu2o3372 ай бұрын
He's credited on season 2's "What Have They Done To Us" as well. I'll just say I think anyone taking more than a cursory glance at the music of Arcane has probably discovered Seaver like I have, so I don't think it's accurate to say he's getting NO credit. I will say that people seem to be largely unaware that most of the music in Arcane is original, which I think would hinder their chances of stumbling across Seaver. His approach to making the music for Arcane seems fairly revolutionary to me and I really hope it catches on. Collaborating with so many different artists from different genres to create new songs that perfectly fit the show...idk, everything about Arcane just seems like a love letter to art itself.
@kiwi12942 ай бұрын
@@kyu2o337 he is visibly credited on what have they done to us because that is the only song in season 2 he sings on, hence why Mako is a featured artist. Maybe it is unfair to say he is getting no credit at all but he defiantly isn't getting what he deserves. PS, anyone that likes any of his production on the Arcane soundtrack and likes electronic music, go listen to both Smoked Filled Room & Let Go Of The Wheel off Mako's album Hourglass. 2 of my all time favourites and have been since they were released in 2014.
@kiwi12942 ай бұрын
@@minhhapham7549 Spotify only displays visible credit for artists that 'perform' the tracks in question (ie sing or are a band) and so writers and production teams go massively under the radar. To view writers and production credits on songs you have to go to the drop down menu for individual tracks and click on 'view song credits', something that a lot of people either won't do or don't know how. This is why writers and producers fly under the radar. Max Martin is a very good example of a producer that doesn't get the credit he deserves. If he was a visibly credited artist on every song he had produced he would probably top the Spotify charts ahead of The Weeknd and Taylor Swift, considering he made the majority of both their songs. Have a look at his discography and you will be amazed the amount of chart topping songs he has produced for other artists.
@kyu2o3372 ай бұрын
@kiwi1294 That's kind of par for producing though, no? I'm sure behind the scenes he's getting all the credit he deserves, especially given the way he leaves credit on the song's to the performing artists. Idk, I just really dig his approach, and I think he probably prefers to be more behind the scenes...and like I said, I'm certain he's getting plenty of credit where it matters to him.

This is fantastic!! Im sure I won't be the only to mention this, but another thing about Arcane's music that's really cool is that it was composed DIRECTLY to picture-meaning the album versions you're listening to here are just extensions of what they originally wrote & composed for the show. I find that really rewarding from a creative standpoint, as so often music & composition are the last thing added to what is ostensibly an already finished project. It's that collaborative process of Arcane's soundtrack that makes the music feel like a truly inseparable piece of the story as a whole, its a really one of a kind experience!

Yeaaaah, I hadn't noticed that until I watched this video. It's so sick that he incorporated that into his piece!
@SiMeGamer5 күн бұрын
@@Oridore_ that is not the point of the show. Equality means nothing. Humans are not equal. Nobody is equal. We are all different. And that's beautiful. You can't extrapolate almost any political message from the series because it doesn't do anything too explicitly (except maybe against war mongering like Noxus). Rewatch the last 3 episodes and the second season and the themes are mostly about making the most out of your life and pursuing your values. Your comment, to me, sounds like Vi from season one which has no idea what the world is. Vi at the end of S1E1 on the roof and Vi on the the bridge talking to Vander in S1E5. It's naive and is rooted is pure feelings and not reality. Is the situation fked up? Yes, sure. But we don't know the causes. The show NEVER tells us why the undercity is the way it is. Not once. Which I'd argue is a problem only in the fact that the undercity is not equal before the law despite having the most crime - there is literally less enforcement there. We have no idea how the council works in details or what system of funding if any they even have at all - not to mention the lack of taxes. The government in Arcane is arcane to us the viewers (pun intended). So you can't make anything out of it. It's about the characters and their values - not about politics. Even in S2E7 in the "good universe" it looks "good" only superficially. Jayce there is potentially dead because he committed suicide. Is that "good" or is that "good" for some of the other characters? There is no history to show how the cities ended up like that or in the future even without Hextech (which in the original universe wouldn't happen so there is a completely different seed at play). I recommend you read the book "Equal is Unfair". It might give you a new perspective on what this word even means. Equality is worthless and there is no oppression happening. If you like the show so much, try to go with Viktor's quote in S1E7: "There is always a choice." You can cry about oppression or look at what is actually happening and do something. You aren't owed anything by anyone except your rights being protected and most of what people nowadays think of as rights, are not. Right are there to protect your freedom to live your life, not to appease you or make your life better and easier. You are in control. So yeah, read the book. It's interesting even if you don't agree with it ultimately.

The little talk about how Misha comes at music and how it is all about what you HEAR and knowing theory is not necessary was really nice. I always felt like I can't make stuff because I lack the "proper knowledge" and should not even try in the first place. This is very reassuring to hear and know, especially about musicians I really look up to!

Loved this video so much. You took my two favourite songs (so far). Guns for hire by Woodkid and What could have been by Sting. Woodkid has a special place in my heart and if you can ever get to one of his concerts please do! It was the most amazing concert I've ever been to. What could have been always makes me tear up and when the violin kicks in it just breaks my heart entirely. Love these songs
@dj_4point084Ай бұрын
3:20 Oh my god the context makes a difference. A lot of the songs go from good to my favorite because of the scenes they accompany. Guns for Hire and Dynasties and Distopias for example. The emotional moments and pacing match up so well between the music and animation. It is very interesting to see how you pick up on these moments from just the music alone.

Funny, I follow you for quiet a while and without knowing that Misha is a friend of yours that whas my favourite song moment in the show, how the music works with the visuals hit me in a different way.

16:22 THIS!! I was once trying to explain to my friend that I don't know how to read music and I dont know music theory. He didn't understand how this was possible, you explained it perfectly! It's not about reading the music, it's about hearing the music.

Hello! First video of yours and I can already tell I will be watching more! I’m actually not into music creation or music theory at all, I’m more of a visual arts kind of person, but the way you explain it all is fascinating in a way I cannot explain. There is a charm to hearing someone explain things you know you won’t comprehend, but do so with an infectious passion. Bravo! Being a complete music noob, even I got hyped about the “C sharp!”

9:00 I love the synergy here between music and lyric - it's ambiguous what chord(s) we're playing as there are only two notes, just as the title "What Might Have Been" implies ambiguity in our reality - different choices would have led to different outcomes. In both cases, choices are later made which define things down the line.
@ninehams122Ай бұрын
This is my first time watching you, and I am so impressed with your music theory and your ability to match a pitch with a complete sound of the chords is brilliant.

That last composition, that tune at the end is threaded through the whole piece because it's so connected to the characters the theme references. It's stunning.

Thank you for extending the deal! I’ve been on the fence about getting piano lessons. I use to play a little bit, and bought a really nice Arturia midi keyboard and I reaaaally don’t want it to collect dust. So this will be amazing for me to get back into it! Also I can already tell how much work has gone into the courses and how detailed they are. I’m so excited to dive in!

we need a part 2! not only is watching you geek out over the pure artistry that is the arcane soundtrack super entertaining but there are so many more gems that you didn't touch on. To name a few: -Ma Meilleure Ennemie by Stromae and Pomme (breaking world records for french songs) -Remember Me by d4vd (listen to both the intro and the main song, both are masterpieces) -What Have They Done To Us by Mako and Grey (gorgeous) -The Line (not sure how interesting the analysis would be but it's an amazing song) We also want to hear your thoughts on the show once you finish it!

You might recognize the piano theme from "The Beast" when you watch the first scene of the first episode. It quite literally opens up the series. It's diagetic in a lot of scenes too which I think is pretty cool.
