I know all about the healing powers of the garden! A little over 3 years ago I was an alcoholic, addict and suicidal. Yesterday I sold some of the first vegetables from my garden and I'm planting as hard as I can. November 5th will be 3 years that I have been sober and clean. I'm the happiest I've ever been

Dear Mr. Dowding, I wanted to pass you a quick message and don't expect a reply, but I wanted you to know how much I've appreciated your advice and wonderful videos. For the first time in my life, my significant other and I had a big salad tonight with everything grown from our own garden. We had kale and young chard leaves, snow pea pods, sungold tomatoes that are finally coming in now, parsley, and our own carrots. It was one of the best salads of my whole life, the taste was amazing compared to what I've ever gotten in the store. I have you to thank for a lot of the instructions on how to get there, from compost to sowing, etc. We have enjoyed things from our garden in the past, but usually only one item at a time. It's been a long road to get where we are since the property was completely wild and covered with English ivy and other weeds. It's taken almost 2 years of work (and a lot of black plastic) to have a real garden, because the soil was so poor. I've learned to amend with used coffee grounds, worm castings, wood ash and what my pet chickens leave behind as well as the compost we've made. I loved your book "How to Create a New Vegetable Garden", and tips in that really helped. Your gentle nature, thoughtful advice and wonderful garden always inspire me to get back out and continue the fight with nature until I bring it under more control. You are very much appreciated way over here on the west coast of Oregon, USA. Your videos always bring a smile, and we look forward to a future with better overall health and better food. Thank you, sir.

The sheer beauty and personal satisfaction of taking a plot of ground and turning it into a little Garden of Eden! I believe gardeners have to be the happiest and most satisfied people on earth. I would encourage all who are just getting started in the gardening process to stay with it for a few seasons. You won't regret working the process of making great soil and growing beautiful and tasty vegetables, herbs, and flowers! Besides, the connection you will experience with your natural surroundings will truly enrich your life. If all men and women became active gardeners, there would be no inclination for greed, power, and war! Thank you Charles for these excellent and motivating gardening videos, keep them coming.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful simply beautiful I am experimenting with her method without digging because I am a woman, I live alone, I have no helper and I am 60 years old, but I can not go without planting. I'm using a bed of leaves first, about 10cm of various dry leaves, some twigs, then a layer of organic compost and then a mulch of dried leaves. It's working very well. Thank you for your teachings.

Charles, Thank you for all that you do. You commitment and passion are inspiring. I stumbled across your channel a few months ago and only wish I had done so before planting my spring market garden. After four and a half months of fighting weeds, battling pest on a half acre in Louisiana, I ripped it all out five weeks ago. As someone once sad, "a thousand mile journey starts with the first step". My first step was to apply your methods, Now with ninety six permanent beds, compost, plastic and cardboard mulch, the outlook for the fall and winter garden looks fantastic. The first crops in are already stunning and have had very little weed pressure. Thank you very much for the help you never knew you provided.

Beautiful garden! A few years ago I used your website as a rough guide to planting a garden in France (being from New Zealand I didn't know exactly when to plant!) The locals thought I was mad not digging, but I had great results. Now back in NZ, am preparing a couch-ridden plot for spring planting in September. It's still all covered in polythene and as ugly as sin, but in a few months, I know it'll be productive and beautiful. Anyhow Charles, thanks for all the tips over years and keep up the great work! Kind regards.

That is nice to hear though I am sad you feel behind. Year two here, especially the spring was difficult with slugs and leatherjackets in places, though by summer it was much better. I was selling a lot within 6 months of making first beds in 2013. Since then the crops, soil and ease of work have been improving every year and 2017 has been just amazing. You will arrive, enjoy the process, keep composting, buy some when needed.

Hi Charles! Inspirational, as ever! I've only had a garden since 2011 (I'm 62!). I'd heard about no-dig but have only recently been following your actual methods. This year has seen a big improvement in yields and multi-sown modules rule ok! Many thanks.
