I started doing watercolor last year, and I've never been able to "mix enough" the first time for washes. I always just make a quick swatch and note on the first mix and don't fret too much over variations when remixing. Good color matching and mixing practice.

I never tell anyone to change the size that they normally paint in. Because that can be very daunting. Most of the time I’m painting in half imperial.

Excellent work, Charles! Suggestion: If you do this painting again, in watercolor, then consider painting the birds in a "toned-down" gray. The birds you painted are too black for my taste. Your acrylic painting had the lighter birds on-top of the darker clouds and that allows us "not" to focus on just three black birds. Opinions are like... What do I know! :)
