Also, am I the only one who really can’t watch the Godzilla movies now after Godzilla Minus One? I saw Godzilla vs Kong for the first time and felt the cast was almost making fun of how weird it was just cheering on CGI monsters and the scripts never worked. Godzilla Minus One felt like the modern Jaws, while the new Godzilla movies are basically a step above Transformers. PS-Kong Skull Island was good!

I personally believe Godzilla and Kong don't need to keep crossing. They are two different series, and in my eyes Godzilla has so many monsters it should focus on bringing back instead of him fighting with Kong back to back. I'm not liking it...and I really dislike the extra emphasis on the human storylines in monster films.

Yes! This! If they wrote a good script with a cohesive story then some of these movies wouldn't need so much bloat! That's the issue!!! They only care about CGI& making everything look realistic, and a medicore script at best, which will not fool US audiences anymore.

@abhinavchoudhury7000 I get what you're saying, but it's a loss imo. Netflix has been steadily losing money and dropping customers. Even to the point where they were forbidding people to share the same account in other countries. They raised the price and are considering doing so again. Unless it's an original; they buy their content to stream. Now, take that 10 million with other movies or shows with a similar cost, new content they purchase, and it will be a loss. With the drop in customers, it's not a great investment. No matter how long it's on their platform, Americans will no longer watch a bad show/movie just because. Now, it is subjective, but a good script is not something you can feign. If they put more effort into the writing, plot, and set designs, I am convinced that even with mediocre CGI, which would save them millions, wouldn't damage the value of the movie. People complain about poor CGI with Marvel movies because the movies are shit that the studio spends hundreds of millions of dollars on. Their writing is awful, plot all over the place, and they insert modern politics into our escapism....noone wants to be preached at. They spend hundreds of millions and take several years sometimes for post editing, and the CGI sucks.

When a new stadium or arena is desired, teams negotiate with states and municipalities to determine how they will be funded. You don’t know how capitalism works? People don’t get paid based on some god who decides their value. They get paid based on what you, the consumer, are willing to pay. For example, if a movie is expected to make 300 million and the math says that 100 million of that is because people are going to see that specific actor, then it is very easy to negotiate a huge paycheck for the movie. If the executive says no then the actor doesn’t do it and then the movie makes less profit. Producers, like any boss, will pay the least that they can get away with. The only reason it’s so much money is because they make so much money and so an actor has value to bring in so much money. Way more than they get paid. So it’s worth it.

The actors also have to pay their team and managers. That was one thing I learned when taraji p Henson was talking about how under paid she is. TLC talked about this back in the day too. @jav689 the viewers decide what a film is worth. If the movie doesn’t make good money then the acting and direction weren’t good enough. It’s that simple. Actors would do well to remember that their fame and fortune is in our collective approval. Their performance is nothing without the support from the spectator. If it wasn’t for us they would have nothing. If they keep this up they will eventually end up having to settle for poor rolls to provide for themselves because their relevance is on a clock.

No. Because then you're taking up time that could be used doing a job that pays you what you're worth and know you're capable of makng. You sure? Let's just take Cary Grant, for example. By the time he died he was worth about $60 million. Today, that would amount to more than double that amount. Grant demanded he make at least 300k per picture, but let's be generous and use The Philadelphia Story as an example where he demanded $137,000 or $2.6 million today. At the time, Katharine Hepburn wasn't doing so great in Hollywood (believe it or not. Had a rep for being "Box Office Poison") and Grant basically used that in order to get more money and have his name more prominent in the advertising for the movie. Scummy behavior although, damn, he was a fantastic actor. My point is, yeah, there are terrible and selfish people in Hollywood today. But it's no different than it was in the 40's, 50's, 60's whatever. We simply hear about it more now because it can easily be plastered all over social media. One point I'll definitely agree on is the style of movies back then. "Talkies". Even Hepburn's made up amazing transatlantic accent felt like you were watching a play, because you essentially were. It was less about theatrics and more about theater with those types of films; Hepburn, Grant, Bogart, Bergman, Stewart - all in many stage type films. This is also not to say there weren't some good hearted and less selfish actors back then. But I'm sure some of those exist today too. I think the majority of actors today and then, however, are/were likely quite vain/self-obsessed and care quite a bit about the paycheck.

The problem with Godzilla vs Kong was that it was released during the pandemic, sure theaters were starting to reopen, but not many people were willing to actually go to them. The other problem was that it was released on HBO Max the same day it premiered in theaters, and was available for a month before being removed (it was re-added after the theatrical run ended). This meant that people could just watch it at home and didn’t even need to go to theaters. If it weren’t for these two major circumstances, I’m willing to bet that the film would’ve made at least another 200 million.

I have a gripe with the Godzilla and Kong films, I feel like they need to go back to their own series after the Godzilla vs Kong. Godzilla has its own league of monsters I would love to see reintroduced in the MonsterVerse, and the new Godzilla film trailer has so much emphasis on Kong that I feel as if Godzilla is being phased out. He was barely in it. I'm just not liking the crossover, Godzilla shouldn't have to share the spotlight.

The thing is, when you become an iconic Star, you essentially miss out on making tens of millions more every year if you decide to take the smaller projects. And let’s be real. Not every celebrity who gets 15 minutes of fame has a lifelong career of massive success. So capitalizing when you are a centerpiece is just practical, even for the uber wealthy.

So what just because you like to act but you cant choose what you act in. Example some football players refuse higher bids to play for there home country or a country they really like. Actors do the same thing. Movies you dedicate months of your life sometime years. If your unpassionate it isnt worth it especially if your now not even being paid well. So overall def bad take

@@thefearturkey6944yeah but for a regular person 10 million dollars is about equal or more than they will ever earn. If you retire at 64 which most people do and start working at 18 that’s 46 years. At 10 million dollars that’s around 217k a year that’s enough to live comfortably for most of a persons life in 80-90% of places. Theoretically all it would take is one person getting a paycheck like that 2-3 times to account for taxes and they would be set for life unless they were completely irresponsible.
